UCC SAINT VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY 2009/2010
UCC SVdP Society is the longest established charity society in UCC with a long history of helping out Cork's disadvantaged and marginalized.
Voluntary students work with the elderly, homeless, underprivileged children and people with special needs. No work of charity is foreign to the society and we are always open to trying a new project.
The society is motivated in what we do by our belief that we can make a difference to the lives of thousands of Irish people who are prevented from participating fully in the economic and social life of their own communities.
COPE FOUNDATION
An organisation which provides care for those with special needs. Each week students meet and go to the Glasheen complex to help out with a social night for adults with special needs. This involves activities such as crosswords, table-tennis, ten-pin bowling, arts and crafts, singing, drama etc.
LOUGH COMMUNITY CENTRE
Lough community centre holds a senior citizen social group on a weekly basis beside Deerpark. Students partake in singing, bingo, making tea and having a laugh with these great people.
HOMELESS HOSTEL
St. Vincent's Hostel and Deerpark Hostel provides shelter for some of the Homeless in Cork. Every Sunday and Thursday night students help run bingo and serve tea for the residents of the Shelters.
VISITING THE ELDERLY
Students visit an elderly person in the cork region for a hour or so a week with another volunteer from the society. You can simple sit and have a chat and a cup of tea or maybe do some things like getting shopping for the person, it varies with every person.
GRINDS

HOMEWORK CLUBS
