Mission StatementSigma Phi Lambda exists for the sole purpose of glorifying our Lord Jesus Christ and making His name great. Sisters for the Lord is an organization of sisters for the Lord where fellowship with our most high God is fostered by growth in unity with one another. We seek to provide a source of fellowship to Christian women who sincerely seek to know His person, His will, and His ways.

How to Join
How to Join Phi LambA potential member of Sigma Phi Lambda must express a desire to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Potential members are required to attend 80% of the pledge meetings and the chapter meetings, which are once a week. They are also required to attend the pledge retreat at the beginnings of the semester. At the conclusion of the required one semester of pledgeship, new members are initiated and assume full membership. All members, including potential members are required to attend a weekly prayer group, one prayer evening each semester, six hours of community service each semester, and the chapter retreat. Pledge semester dues are $130, and every active semester afterwards dues $110.
History Sigma Phi Lambda, Sisters for the Lord, is an organization of sisters for the Lord where fellowship with our most High God is fostered by growth in unity with one another. It was founded on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin in the spring of 1988. There are now 24 chapters of Sigma Phi Lambda across the nation including: University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, Stephen F. Austin University, Texas State University, Southwestern University, Houston Baptist University, Baylor University, Angelo State University, Sam Houston State University, University of Oklahoma, University of Florida, Tarelton State University, University of Arkansas, University of North Texas, Oklahoma State University, University of Missouri at Columbia (Mizzou), Mississippi State University, University of Central Oklahoma, University of Missippi (Ole' Miss), University of Central Florida, Vanderbilt University, Midwestern State University and Wayland Baptist University. Sigma Phi Lambda obtained organizational status at Texas Tech on December 17, 1991. The first pledge class was in the spring of 1992.
