Spring Walk
April 7, 2012
9AM to 4 PM
Each year in the spring Jackie Dill of Oklahoma Wildcrafting leads a spring walk for the purpose of teaching others what Oklahoma has to offer, when it comes to wild edibles, herbs and mushrooms. She has been doing this each spring for many years.
This year will be a change for experienced as well as new foragers, we will have Chef Marc Dunham of Francis Tuttle and five students preparing wild foods we gather. We will have our normal potluck lunch with many bringing wild food dishes. Chef Jonathan Stranger of Ludvine in OKC, will also be there to help. After lunch we will have talks on wild food preservation and eco-regions change what you may forage. This year we will also address the changing face of foraging due to weather. We will end the day with a question and answer session.
If you are planing on attending you will need to be sure to wear good walking shoes, dress in layers as it is cool when we start the walk but it warms up fast, a hat, water, paper and plastic bags for collection, a small shovel or trowel to dig with, note book and a field guide if you have one. We will bring a few field guides for you to look at.
You will need to register above and you will get a confirmation e-mail sent to you. Be sure to print, sign and bring the waiver above with you. You will need the waiver to go on the walk. We will have five co-leaders this year to help in the field.
There is never a charge for the walk and only ask for a donation to help the church cover utilities and clean up. They let us use their facilities every year. The church is the Assembly of God at 515 E Main St. Coyle, OK
