HOPE center is located at 415 Newnan Road in Carrollton, GA and serves homeless men who have a desire to remove themselves from homelessness in the west Georgia/eastern Alabama area.

Goal of the Hope CenterHOPE Center is a place where homeless men can restore their self worth, honor, and dignity and begin life anew.
About the Hope CenterHOPE is a home for homeless men, an emergency shelter with a home like atmosphere Once accepted as guests, men live in unity in an alcohol and drug free, communal environmant, do chores, work, and take responsibility for their personal well being. HOPE Center is a safe, clean, wholesome environment with all the daily necessities provided so that guests can focus on obtaining and maintaining gainful employment as well as permanent housing.

MEN OF HOPEMen of HOPE do not have to take their belongings with them each morning when they leave, because once men are accepted as guests, HOPE is their temporary home. They do not have to worry about whether or not there will be a bed available for them each evening. The time it takes for each guest to transition from homelessness to permanent housing varies with each guest. HOPE'S transition goal is 90 days. Some guests transition in less than 90 days, and for others, it takes longer.

The purpose of the following ministries are to witness through meeting specific human needs of individuals. Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and carry out the Great Commision are the ultimate goals. Witnessing is done through and within the context of meeting a specific human need. Sharing the Gospel and demonstrating Christ's love are the goals of literacy missions. FREE ENGLISH CLASSES

Free English Classes (FEC) are completely FREE! All books, worksheets, and even pencils and paper are provided. Students who attend three classes in a row (3 Thursdays, 3 Sundays, or a combination) earn the English notebook with his or her name printed on it. Free English Classes focus on Conversational English for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. Classes are multicultural. Only English is spoken in classes during class time. Any individual wishing to learn English as a second language is welcome and encouraged to attend. So far, in 2009, 3 countries are represented. FEC is open enrollment. Anyone may enroll at the beginning of any scheduled class. No identification or documentation is required.Each student who attends 50 hours of English classes earns a certificate at graduation. These hours accumulate each year. Last year, 2008, 2 students earned their 175+ hour certificates. All FEC teachers are certified English as a Second Language Teacher, update their certifications every five years, and receive training at the State Literacy Conference annually. ADULT READING & WRITING

The Adult Reading and Writing (ARW) program involves tutoring adults who are either illiterate, functional non-readers, or are seeking to pass the General Educational Development (GED) test.

GET THAT JOB

Taught by prominent businessman Norman Miller, this course will teach tips and information that will help you Get That Job!

Topics include: Skills Inventory, Key Words and Vocabulary, Being the Employee that Employers Want, Filling Out Applications, Interviewing, Mock Interviews with Professionals, Job Hunting Techniques, and much more.

GET THAT JOB is completely free. Everything needed will be provided, including notebook, paper, pencils...etc.

Participants who attend all 10 sessions with less than 2 late arrivals or early departures, will earn a certificate on the final day of class.

CARROLL COMMUNINTY GARDEN

The Carroll Community Garden exists so that the poor can add a substantial amount of fresh produce to their diets, without having to sacrifice basic necessities, such as rent, heat, medicines, or other food.The goal is to reduce hunger among low-income persons in Carroll County, while also improving the quality of their diets and, as a result, their health.The garden is planted, maintained, and harvested by local volunteers and harvest recipients. Volunteers have included UWG students and professors, Housing Authority employees, church youth groups, school groups, a master gardener, moms, dads, and kids. Teach your children and teens the importance of serving others as well as about hunger, poverty, nutrition, gardening, and the environment. Set up a time for you, your family, or group to come play in the dirt! Low-income, Carroll County residents may labor in the garden and then reap a portion of the harvest according to their labor. The Garden also partners with Manna House Food Panty. The remaining harvest is divided and distributed among Manna House's elderly and disabled clients. As vegetables grown in the garden are free to low-income persons, we constantly need SEEDS & PLANTS! We occassionally also need garden supplies, so monetary contributions are greatly appreciated.
