Dr Tracey Proctor
I obtained a 1st class honours degree in Psychology (BSc) from the University of Nottingham and a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) from the University of Sheffield.
It was during that latter course that I developed an interest in psychodynamic therapy and specifically Experiential Dynamic Therapy (EDT). I trained for 2 years with Ferruccio Osimo (former president of the International EDT Association, IEDTA) . Since then I have gone on to train in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Therapy (ISTDP) - a subtype of EDT - with Josette ten Have-de Labije and Kees Cornelissen , who are also prominent in the international field, in their first cohort of UK trainees. This is the only ISTDP training in the UK currently accredited by a major recognised governing body, the American Psychological Association.
As well as working privately I have also been employed as a Clinical Psychologist within the NHS since 2003. I am registered and regulated by both the British Psychological Society and the Health Professions Council.
I am a fully trained Clinical Psychologist but as part of ongoing professional development I am continuing to develop my skills in Experiential Dynamic Therapies such as ISTDP. I am therefore informed by a number of approaches, which also include cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and can adapt my working method to suit the individual and their needs.
EDT therapy is not yet widely available in the UK and I am excited to be able to offer this to my clients. This can especially help with complex emotional difficulties and with those who feel very stuck in their patterns of behaviour with themselves and others. The aim is to tackle difficulties as directly and efficiently as the person is able to tolerate, developing the person's strength and capacity as we go, working as a team.
If you are experiencing any of the following areas of difficulty I may be able to help:
... and this is not an exhaustive list - if you aren't sure, please drop me an email.
You are bound to be apprehensive about talking to somebody new, but rest assured that I will do my best to put you at ease and guide you you through the process. I always suggest a long assessment interview to start with, which will help us both decide if it will be a good idea to meet some more. That choice is yours.

Please feel free to send an email and I'll let you know if I think I can help.
You may be wondering whether you can benefit from talking to somebody and especially whether I am the right person for you. The best way to find out is to talk to me. If you send a brief email telling me about your difficulties, I can give you a quick reply to let you know how I might be able to help and whether I have a session available that you could try.
I operate a sliding fee system, so it's always worth asking and I'll let you know how flexible I can be based on your situation.
