Founded in 1971, the Museum of Regional History is a place to explore the history of the Ark-La-Tex from the time of the Caddo to the present. Artifacts from the Museum's collections include historical and cultural items donated by local citizens.
The White House Gardens

Caddo Indian Exhibit
The Caddo were the first occupants of the Southwest Arkansas, Northeast Texas and Northwest Louisiana region. Examples of their tools, jewelry and remarkable pottery are on display along with rare images from the TMS collections.
Beasley Music Exhibit
Featuring the Scott Joplin piano, this exhibit explores the musical history of the region with an emphasis on Jazz and Folk music. The exhibit includes interactive displays that allows visitors to listen to music clips and view images from the TMS Collections. Learn about Texarkana natives who went on to achieve notoriety in the music field. Biographical sketches of Scott Joplin, composer Conlon Nancarrow, pianist Lois Towles and folk legend Hudie Ledbetter.
Congressman Wright Patman Exhibit
Featuring items donated by Connor Patman, including rare political cartoon originals and the longhorns that once hung in Congressman Patman's Washington D.C. office.
Military History Exhibit
Uniforms, gear and other items reflecting life in the military during World War I, World War II, Korea and later conflicts.
The backdrop for this exhibit is the
Wall of Honor .

Wilbur Smith Research Archives
Located within the Museum of Regional History, the Wilbur Smith Research Archives contains thousands of photographs, documents, rare books and family histories. The archive's Texarkana city directory collection is the most comprehensive in Texarkana. For genealogists, our Pioneer History files contain information on hundreds of families from the region. Topics range from African-American history to War and Military.
TMS Online Archives provides a sampling of elements from the main archive, with special digital media exhibits focusing on the history of the Ark-La-Tex.
