ABOUT "THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW MUSICAL COMING TO THE MUSIC BOX THEATER"Sexy, campy musical spoof and Rocky-Ween party set for Oct. 21, 22 HOUSTON (Sept. 1, 2011) "The Rocky Horror Show" - that sexy, campy, rock 'n' roll musical - will be produced at The Music Box Theater for two nights only - Oct 21 and 22. The evening also will include a festive Rocky-Ween party, with Rocky Horror costume and Time-Warp contests, specialty drinks, desserts and games.Heading the entirely local cast of "The Rocky Horror Show" is KUHT-TVs Ernie Manouse as the Narrator and Tye Blue as Dr. Frank 'n' furter. The show also features Andy Ingalls as Brad; Cay Taylor as Janet; Colton Berry as Riff Raff; Jessica Janes as Magenta; William Martin (choreographer) as Columbia; Beth Lazarou as Eddie and Dr. Scott; Scott Lupton as Rocky; and Ronna Mansfield and Arianna Bermudez as Transylvanians."Our goal in producing 'Richard O'Briens The Rocky Horror Show' is to introduce an energetic crowd of entertainment seekers in Houston to The Music Box Theater," says Berry, who is directing and designing the production. THE CAST TYE BLUE (Dr. Frank’n’furter) is the Director of Entertainment and Resident Host at Houston's Number 1 Nightspot: F Bar Houston (www.fbarhouston.com). He is also host of Musical MonGays at 88 Keys every Monday night. Personal highlights in 2011 include opening for Chaka Khan at the illustrious "Cabaret for a Cure" and then being tapped to produce/direct/host/star in the inaugural RAINBOW ON THE GREEN, which kicked off Houston's PRIDE festivities and boasted over 2,500 attendees. Tye was just awarded "Best Male Entertainer" in the city by OutSmart Magazine's 2011 "Gayest and Greatest" competition. He won this same award last year for his efforts spearheading and hosting major fundraisers for local organizations, including The Osito Foundation, HATCH, The Trevor Project, The Rainbow Pages, Bayou City Performing Arts, PRIDE Houston, PRIDE Idol Competition, The PFLAG/HATCH Scholarship Fund, Theater Under the Stars, Masquerade Theatre, Bayou City Concert Musicals, The Museum of Cultural Arts, and Galveston PRIDE. As a performer, Tye was featured in the world tour of the Broadway production of RENT and the European tour of HAIR, as well as many regional productions, as well as just about every theatre in Houston. His directing credits include: ALTAR BOYZ (Sacramento Music Circus), THE DROWSY CHAPERONE (HADA), THE HAPPY SHOP (Los Angeles Cinegrill), ONE NATION UNDER (NYC Premiere), HUNNY BUNNY HOT BOX BURLESQUE (2 NYC companies), SERGEANT CASEY'S REMAINS (Premiere), BEYOND THERAPY, POPCORN, THE EIGHT: REINDEER MONOLOGUES. He assisted fellow Texan and multiple Tony Award-winner Terrence McNally on THE VISIT (declared best musical of the year by TIME Magazine), and worked closely with its legendary stars and Tony winners Chita Rivera and George Hearn. Tye also assisted Mr. McNally on the Pre-Broadway workshop of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, as well as a star-studded workshop of Mr. McNally’s IT’S ONLY A PLAY. He also assisted Olivier Award-winning director Stafford Arima on multiple tours of the long-running Off-Broadway hit ALTAR BOYZ, as well as many regional productions at top tier regional theatres nationally. “Thank you so much for your support of local arts organizations, and Happy Halloween!”ERNIE MANOUSE (The Narrator), a native of Binghamton, NY and a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, launched his broadcasting career with NBC News before producing programs at Chicago radio station WLS-AM. In 1996, Ernie joined HoustonPBS, and as an anchor and producer, he has garnered three Emmy Awards, five KATIE Awards, a Houston Press Club Lone Star Award, “viewer’s choice” recognition from multiple local and regional publications, and the title of “Ultimate Interviewer” from the Houston Chronicle. His intellect, natural curiosity, and ability to help people tell their story have been hallmarks of Ernie’s many television projects. InnerVIEWS with Ernie Manouse, an Emmy-nominated and nationally broadcast interview series will enter its ninth season in March 2011. His weekly program Houston 8 explores stories and issues of importance to the Houston community. He has also hosted and produced WeekNight Edition, A Mother’s Account: The Stella Byrd Interview, The After Party, The Last 24, A Conversation on RACE, and the HoustonPBS Spelling Bee, and has moderated debates of both Houston mayoral and Texas U.S. Senate candidates.Ernie’s commitment to public television extends beyond creating compelling programs. As a pledge spokesman, he is instrumental in raising over $2 million annually for HoustonPBS, and his talent has helped PBS affiliates across the country raise tens of millions of dollars in support of educational outreach, broadcasting, and programming needs. Three of public television’s most successful national pledge specials have been hosted by Ernie.Outside of the television studio, Ernie dedicates tremendous time and expertise in support of the arts, education, and equality. He has worked on numerous boards, serving terms as vice-president for all of the following organizations: Stages Repertory Theatre; Dominic Walsh Dance Theater; USO of Greater Houston; PRIDE Houston; and PRIDE Fest Film Festival. Additionally, Ernie is a popular master of ceremonies, host and auctioneer for events as diverse as The Pride Parade, the U.S. Military Ball, Houston Grand Opera, and the “Big Board” at the Cattle Baron’s Ball.Ernie and his cat Champ reside in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston.ANDY INGALLS (Brad) is delighted to be appearing in his first Music Box show as Brad! He is currently studying Music and Political Theory at UH and has recently appeared as Hanschen in Spring Awakening (Regional Premiere: Generations Theatre), Ben Fowles in Farragut North (Regional Premiere: Black Lab Theatre), Billy Jester in Little Mary Sunshine (Unity Theatre), and Roy in Batboy (Generations), among others; and in the spring he is excited to appear in Coast of Utopia at Main Street Theater (2nd US production). He would like to thank his parents for their interminable and unflagging support in all that he does. CAY TAYLOR (Janet) is a proud original company member of The Music Box Theater. The only commonalities between Cay and Janet are that they both like to read Cleveland's Plain Dealer and occasionally dance in underpants. Houston credits: 4-year Resident Company Member of The Masquerade Theatre: Urinetown (Little Sally), The Music Man (Marian Paroo), Little Women (Amy March), Jane Eyre (Blanche Ingram); Main Street Theater: Pardon My English (Frieda); Country Playhouse: various musical revues. Cay loves trampolines and Martha Stewart, but most of all she loves her patient, absolutely captivating husband who supports her and loves her even when she sluts it up on stage.COLTON BERRY (Riff Raff/Director) Originally from Staunton, Virginia, Colton attended the Shenandoah Valley Governor’s School for Theatre. As a seventh-grader, Colton opened an outdoor theatre and production company alongside his mother and father and began working as a director/designer/performer for theatre. He also became the youngest artistic resident of a local theatre, ShenanArts, at 14. By the age of 21, he has appeared in over sixty productions and produced, directed and/or designed nearly thirty. Some of his favorite roles include Roger (Rent), Huck (Big River), Pippin (Pippin), Seymour (Little Shop of Horrors), Jekyll/Hyde (Jekyll and Hyde), Bobby (Company), Radames (Aida), Valjean (Les Miserables), Link (Hairspray), Chris (Miss Saigon) and Mary Sunshine (Chicago). Colton is also an accomplished vocalist and has toured southern France with the French-American Gospel Music Workshop Exchange, competed in Showtime at the Apollo! On Tour! and appeared on the seventh season of the famed television show, American Idol, as one of the “Top 24” contestants. Colton also served as a resident company-member at the Masquerade Theatre in Houston, where he also worked on the design teams for four productions and taught for the Tribble School for Professional Musical Theatre. In 2009, Colton founded and began administrating and teaching for the Presbury Theatrical Training Program in his hometown, where the program still boasts high-caliber training and performances for local students and adults. Colton is the Artistic Director of TheatrixLive! LLC, a company that stages professional theatre and connects with local schools for theatre-education outreach programs in Virginia. Colton currently writes, designs and performs for The Music Box Theater.JESSICA JANES (Magenta) is shivering with antici… pation to make her Music Box Theater debut with THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. Some of her favorite previous credits include: Stages Repertory Theatre: Pickles in The Great American Trailer Park Musical; Catastrophic Theatre: Jessica Juggs in Paradise Hotel, Dani in Bluefinger: The Fall and Rise of Herman Brood; Theater LaB Houston: Mae in Reefer Madness: The Musical; Mildred’s Umbrella: Woman in The Flu Season; Country Playhouse: Maureen in RENT, Nadia in bare; HSPVA: Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense. By day, Jessica is a French major at the University of Houston. She is also looking forward to finishing up the year at the Catastrophic Theatre in Lisa D’Amour’s Anna Bella Eema. A special thank you to my amazing family for its unequivocal love and support.BETH LAZAROU (Eddie/Dr. Scott) is thrilled to join her friends at the Music Box Theater for The Rocky Horror Show. Beth holds an Honors BA in Theatre (Acting and Directing) from the University of Houston, and is happily engaged to the talented Corey Hartzog. During the Holidays, Ms. Lazarou will return to Stages Repertory Theatre to appear as Ms. Blacksheep in Panto Little Red.WILLIAM MARTIN (Columbia/Choreographer), originally from Waterloo, Iowa, has been performing since the age of five. He attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio where he studied Acting;Musical Theatre-Emphasis in Music, and Journalism. As a performer he has toured Europe, Japan, Canada, and 48 states of the United States! He has appeared in Houston as a Performer/Choreographer with The Masquerade Theatre, Main Street Theater, and The Ensemble Theater. Favorite Credits: Oliver! (Noah Claypole/Choreographer), Children of Eden (Japheth), The Wiz (Mean Ol' Lion), Purlie Victorius(Dance Captain), A Christmas Carol(Ghost of Christmas Present/Choreographer), The Producers(Choreograher), Junie B. Jones(Dance Captain). William also choreographs for area Junior high and High school Color Guard and Dance programs. He is ecstatic to be back on stage after taking a break from performing to focus on teaching!! Having a blast performing with TMBT!SCOTT LUPTON (Rocky), A former student of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Los Angeles, California, and a native Houstonian, Scott’s most recent projects include: Hairspray (Corny Collins’ Council Member: Fender/Dance Captain) at Country Playhouse and LoneStar Cy-Fair, performing for Aeon Theatrix’s Inaugural Season Preview in June, as well as Stage Managing [title of show] and Gone Missing at TheaterLaB Houston. In late 2010, he was also a part of Round Rock Entertainment’s pop-performance group, Prodigy. Performances with them included The 2010 United Way Annual Kick-Off at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, and headlining the TelFair International Music Festival. Other local credits include: Panto Pinocchio (Ensemble/ Buttons U/s / Pinocchio U/s), Reefer Madness (Ensemble/Sally’s Baby), Rent (Ensemble/Angel U/s) , Brian Maynard’s The Act of Murder (Nigel Smythe), You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown (Schroeder), Doug Schlatter’s Murder Can Be Fatal (John Smith), Time Square Angel (Georgie / Dexter Payne III), and was also a part of the Houston Premier of bare (Lucas).RONNA MANSFIELD (Transylvanian) is ecstatic to be a part of such an amazingly talented crew at TMBT! Some of her favorite roles have included being part of Kissless the Musical at NYMF and HFAC's Oklahoma!. Ronna sends a special thanks to Joel and Maddie for their continued love and support which allow her to pursue her passion! Bachelor of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University. Arianna also studies with the Kim Tobin Acting Studio and teaches at the Tribble School with at Masquerade Theatre. She will appear in My Fair Lady this fall.
