Why have a twitter account? As a business, its an inobtrusive way to keep your customers informed of deals, discounts, new blogs, and updates that they would not normally read in their emails. The clutter in emails don't entice people to read them and may, in fact, go directly to spam. Twitter is free and easy to use. It requires no knowledge of code but does require you to be terse. You must get your message across in 120 characters or less including spaces and punctuation. If you would like some help setting one up, just send an email to designbykiku_gmail.com and we'll hook you up!
OUCH! IS YOUR WEBSITE SUFFERING FOR ATTENTION?
A simple evaluation can turn a neglected site into a revenue maker by following a few caveats:
GRAB THEIR ATTENTION- You have three to five seconds to grab the attention of your viewer. A pleasant design with appealing colors helps to keep them longer.
ORGANIZATION - Is the architecture of the site easy to use and organized? Are links all over the place or EVER scrolling? Gone are the days of scrolling home pages that seem to go on forever- unless of course, it is a blog.
LOADING TIME- Large pictures over 100dpi take longer for browsers to load. Although we like clarity and interest, this will cause any searcher to click out immediately. Locking up your potential clients' computer is considered 'bad' internet etiquette.
HOMEMADE SITES DON'T CONVEY PROFESSIONALISM! I have designed for clients that attempt to DIY their site. Not only did they waste their own time, they conveyed the wrong message to their clients. Above all, their true style, quality of product and sales were suffering.
