bio Hello. My name is Cindy and I am a self-representing artist currently residing in Central Florida with my husband and two children. My grandparents served as missionaries overseas. My mom grew up in the Ilaga Valley of Irian Jaya, and my dad grew up in Korat, Thailand. They attended a boarding school together in Vietnam and Maylasia, and later reconnected in the states and got married. I am the oldest of four and was born in 1975 in the pretty little town of Abilene, TX. My dad was in the Air Force, so we moved around most of my childhood. I got to see interesting places when we were stationed in Turkey, and then later Thailand. So why did I go so far back and mention all that? It's interesting! (To me anyway) Now on to art stuff. It was my art teachers my senior year of highschool that got me moving in an art direction. I took an art 101 class to fill up some credit hours before graduation and the next thing I knew I was working at the local college gallery. I received my associates degree in studio art in 1997. I enjoy photography, graphic arts, and drawing, but found the messiness of painting to be the most fun. My subjects tend to be the everyday and sometimes I like to give certain objects a bit of personality. If I had to sum up what my art is about, I would say it's art dedicated to those who are young at heart.
