Salutations!
As the current President of our Phi Chapter I can say that we have been the phinest example of multiculturalism here at The University of Texas at Austin for the past seven years, and have been doing so nationally for twice as long. I can recall when I first met the women of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc., I knew that I had found sisters I could truly call family. And since then I have had endless opportunities to learn, experience, and change as a person because of the new worlds I was able to explore.
My sisters and I have a dedication to both our personal goals and our work as women of Theta Nu Xi. Collectively, we strive to recognize that not all culture is tied solely to race, religion or socioeconomic background. Together we are strong and dedicated women who explore new concepts of culture and prove to be living examples that through all of these cultural facets we are in all ways successful. We are active participants in campus activities both attending and as facilitators, and we have worked in many community service events as well. We work together in study groups and are there to support each other when we need it most. So with ΘΝΞ ONE Love and all of mine, I’d like to welcome you to our website. Please feel free to browse our photos, learn more about us, make a donation or sign our guest book!
Sincerely,
Courtney Alynn Combs

Theta Woman
The following poem represents many of the core ideals and history associated with Theta Nu Xi. Written by Soror Carroo, "Theta Woman" was meant to give new and existing members a feel of what it truly means to be part of this sorority:
Loyal to the cocoon
From where she comes
The Theta Woman rises out of a lavender dawn
To proudly bridge the gaps in her world
With her butterfly wings.
With honesty and courage
She lives and loves without conditions.
Surrendering to her beauty and power,
She gives and receives freely
Remembering her vision, her purpose, her heart.
Creator of her own definition
She inspires those around her
To be proud and selfless
To give unselfishly over and over again.
Loving herself as she loves others,
The butterfly transcends
Taking others with her in her flight.
- Soror Ayodele Carroo, Spring 1998

In Remembrance of Mike Acuna
You were such an amazing and dedicated individual -passionate about your family, friends, students, everything. Your presence, enthusiasm, encouragement and constant support for our organization from day one have helped make us who we are today: bright, caring, and strong-willed women. You never gave up on us. As an advisor, friend, and mentor, you truly blessed us with your presence. Thank you for your love and support. We wish you and your family peace and love. We will always remember you.
Chapter History
Attending one of the largest universities in the nation, eight intelligent and beautiful women came together to form an unbreakable sisterhood on October 17, 2004. Originally the Phi chapter started out as an interest group called ROSES, Revelation of Success, Excellence, and Sisterhood. Each founding sister contributed her heart and soul into an amazing journey that she would never forget. These eight ladies have forever changed the history at The University of Texas at Austin.
National History
In the spring of 1996, Founding Monarch Melissa Jo Murchison-Blake was in search of sisterhood. She wanted to be part of a family that openly embraced all women and crossed cultural boundaries. As a biracial woman, she did not want to choose between historical white or black sororities. Founding Monarch Murchison-Blake felt that if she did choose one, she would be denying half of her heritage.
Still wanting to be part of a strong sisterhood, Founding Monarch Murchison-Blake recruited six other women to join hands in her quest to found Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority. When the idea of a multicultural sorority was presented to the Director of Greek Affairs at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he discouraged the Founding Monarchs from fulfilling their vision. The Director advised them to consider an existing organization, expressing his concern that a new Greek organization, based on the principle of multiculturalism, would not survive a sisterhood. Their efforts set the stage for Theta Nu Xi's presence in the Greek, non-Greek, and surrounding communities.
After much work and dedication, the Founding Monarchs built the foundation for Theta Nu Xi. Finally, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill officially recognized Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority as the Alpha Chapter on April 11, 1997. With the collaborative efforts of the Founding Monarchs and the Sisters of Spring 1998, the organization grew beyond our expectations in a very short period of time. The Sorority incorporated on April 29, 1999, and with the participation of the Alpha Chapter and Beta and Gamma Colonies, the National Organization was founded at the first annual National Convention on August 21, 1999.

National Philanthropy
Theta Nu Xi's national philanthropy is Girls For A Change (GFC). GFC is a national organization that empowers girls to create social change. They invite young women to design, lead, fund and implement social change projects that tackle issues girls face in their own neighborhoods. GFC provides the tools, resources, partnerships and support girls need to gain the voice, ability, and problem-solving capacity to realize their full potential. They welcome and serve all girls and focus our efforts on girls who live in low income communities.

We would like to Congratulate Andrea Lopez for being the 2010-2011 Recipient!
I am currently a senior at UT Austin, and I was blessed to receive Theta Nu Xi's scholarship this past semester.
It allowed me to continue at UT Austin, pursuing my dream in higher education to help those in need. Altruism is a great passion of mine; the satisfaction I receive from helping others is one that words cannot describe. Apart from academics, I work in Equal Opportunity in Engineering educational and social opportunities in India through running Austin's Livestrong Full or Half-Marathon. I am truly thankful and honored to be this year's scholarship recipient. Thank you Theta Nu Xi!
