Home Once upon a time, in a far away land
There lived a witch with
a wickedly witty pencil
Everything the pencil touched turned to pink
From fuschia to salmon. From baby to blush
The wickedly witty pencil
Tweaked sentences into shape
And told stories with soul
Welcome to The Pink Pencil
Where all your stories will be told
Our Story ...And so The Pink Pencil was created in March 2003, the brainchild of Amy Tan - a lover of art and alliteration.SELLING STORIESAmy is the Chief Catalyst of The Pink Pencil and has spent 15 years in the media (selling stories) and non-profit sector (saving souls). She was a correspondent for Reuters News Agency and produced CNBC Asia news programs. She also wrote and edited a wide variety of stuff for two other Asia-wide media groups. SAVING SOULSIn 2005, Amy helped to co-found WINGS (Women's Initiative for Ageing Successfully) in Singapore. WINGS is a non-profit education center which helps older women age with their health and dignity. WINGS expanded to Hong Kong in 2011. AWARDS AND SUCHIn 2010, Amy won the annual MediaCorp "Singapore Woman Award" for her outstanding achievements as a woman under the age of 40 in the charity sector. WHERE DID YOU GET THAT IDEA FROM?!?Having lived and worked in Asia, the Middle East and the United States, Amy 's perspective is multi-dimensional and usually spawns creative prose and atypical (but practical) solutions.Amy's idea of fun is creating ceramic sculptures, running a few marathons, trying food that defies description, and travelling the globe on the back of a camel (if possible). Generally, soaking up the multifaceted world that we inhabit in hopes of discovering the fascinating niches where things overlap and new ideas pop out. CLOSE TO MY HEARTIn her spare time, Amy has served as a board member and a volunteer in health and women's empowerment NGOs for more than a decade. She currently volunteers with WINGS, a non-profit leaders networking group (The Light), as a financial literacy trainer and with a community group where she lives. Oh, and did she mention she loves everything feline? THE SCHOOL BITSAmy holds a Bachelors degree in Business from the Pennsylvania State University with a major in Marketing and a minor in Womens Studies. She furthered her education at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and the Singapore Management University.
