Communities In Schools of New Jersey Performance Learning Centers
The CISNJ Performance Learning Centers (PLCs) provide a non-traditional learning option for high school students. PLCs are academically rigorous, college preparatory high schools. Through a self-paced online curriculum, students who may have fallen behind in credits due to absenteeism, academic struggles or disengagement from school are often able to catch up and graduate on time, prepared for college, a career and life. Both the NWDI and Sankofa PLC's are collaborative efforts with the Newark Public Schools Office of Alternative Education. Both NWDI and Sankofa PLCs target at-risk and drop out students who are ready to continue and complete their high school education!
PLC NWDI STAFF BIOS
The Newark Workforce Development Institute (NWDI), began in Newark, New Jersey during the 2008-2009 school year. PLCs are academically rigorous, college preparatory high schools. Through a self-paced online curriculum, students who may have fallen behind in credits due to absenteeism, academic struggles or disengagement from school are often able to catch up and graduate on time, prepared for college, a career and life. This PLC operates between 2:00-7:30p.m.

The Sankofa PLC is our newest addition opening in September, 2009. PLCs are academically rigorous, college preparatory high schools. Through a self-paced online curriculum, students who may have fallen behind in credits due to absenteeism, academic struggles or disengagement from school are often able to catch up and graduate on time, prepared for college, a career and life. This PLC operates between 8:20 a.m.-2:40 p.m.
