About our TEAM
Pam Rouse and Terry Lowe share as co-captains on this team of 40-50 short-term missionaries who deliver the Good News of Jesus Christ in the rural areas of Honduras. We work with Baptist Medical Dental Missions International based in Hattiesburg Mississippi to help deliver evangelical, medical, dental, and veterinary care to these impoverished areas. Our church sponsor is First Baptist Church of Hattiesburg. Our team has been active since 2002 and has visited several different villages in Honduras. From year to year, some of the faces on the team change, but God's blessings only seem to increase with each trip.
When is the next mission trip?
We will leave at 2:00am (yes AM) from the First Baptist Church of Hattiesburg on June 19. We will return around midnight on June 26.
What is the cost of the trip for 2010?
The cost is $1900. This covers travel, food, the cost of medications that we bring to the village and the cost of translators and local doctors.
Packing Tips
It is very possible to over-pack. We strongly recommend that you pack and send most of your clothing and gear ahead with the team supplies....which usually leaves about two months prior to the trip.
One of our regular team members, Chalie Ray, has comprised her packing list....which is way more than I bring....but is a good list to get you thinking about it. The "One Week of Your Life" brochure on the BMDMI website has a good packing summary.
What is the name of our village?
BMDMI has assigned us a village called Las Animas.
Here is a link to the fact sheet that BMDMI sent me.
Age Restrictions
There is no upper age. If God is calling you, then go. The envirnoment can be harsh and the climate can be quite unpredictable, and there is no immediate access to hospital care. We caution people with medical problems to keep this in mind as you are praying about this trip.
There is no lower age. If the youth can work without parental supervision then he/she could go. Once again, the conditions there can be harsher than we are used to in the USA. We cannot spare team members to "baby-sit" your child, so keep this in mind.
Applications
Applications and forms can be found under the "Links" section of this website.
Passport Information
If you do not have your passport, you need it NOW. It takes forever to get a passport in and then we have to have it turned in 8 weeks prior to travel. Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions for this....Uncle Sam's rule, not ours. Please don't delay on getting it...
Immunizations
Your tetanus needs to be up -to-date.
You will not need malaria prophylaxis.

Inventory List
4/3/10 SHIPPING is here! Boxes will be moved to New Orleans early April 16. All of the boxes have to be labeled and placed on an inventory and with hundreds of boxes, that takes time. Empty boxes are at my house and I will have a few in my car at church (first service) tomorrow. Dianne will be needing help packing kitchen supplies. Email her for details.
4/3/10 Garage sale fund raiser will be Saturday May 1 at the Family Practice After Hours Clinic. We need merchandise to sell and we need workers. We will start putting out stuff the night before the garage sale and start at 7:00 am. Contact Amy Kelly or Tammy Matlock for questions or details..

10/19/09 -The dates of our next trip are JUNE 19-26, 2010
