Winston and THE INDIE RING
The LA Opera presented Richard Wagner's "Ring Cycle" earlier this year, and now a Riverside indie pop band is putting its own spin on the classic series of four operas.
Winston and the Telescreen has set up a month's worth of shows, happening every Wednesday. Each performance will be another act.
Singer David Tetz broke down the different nights this way:
"Act one 'Love' will be at Back to the Grind on Aug. 4 as it is all ages and youthful; Act 2 'Heartbreak' will be at Worthington's on Aug. 11, a bar so the world can drink to their sorrows; Act 3 'Rage' is a return to Back to the Grind Aug. 18 to honor youthful aggression; and Act 4 'Redemption' will culminate at the Royal Falconer on Aug. 25 where we can celebrate transcending the rest of it all with my favorite set yet -- 4 six song sets, no songs repeating, form one giant story."
Reading that kind of blew my mind.
8 p.m. Wednesday, Back To The Grind, 3575 University Ave., Riverside, all ages

Brilliant.
-PRESS ENTERPRISE
It's an album nearly impossible to get tired of, with just enough variety so you marvel at the creative range, but not so much that you grow tired of changing your music mood every four minutes.

This is a twee-lovers dream band with waltzing guitar riffs, pretty keyboard lines and a singer who spins around as he plays tamborine. Trust me, when this band is picked up by much cooler bloggers and ends up on a Pitchfork year-end chart, you will kick yourself for missing last nights show.
