"A common question people have is wondering about the timing of food with a morning workout. We learned from Dr. Todd Miller Ph.D. (AdvoCare Scientific & Medical Advisory Board, Professor of Exercise Science George Washington University Medical Center) that eating protein one hour before a workout and one hour after will produce the best results for gaining lean muscle... muscle mass in turn helps burn body fat. Because I work out in the morning and don't want to work out with a full stomach of food, I choose 2 scoops of Muscle Gain powder one hour before my workout. This is just the right amount of calories to help me get through a workout with "crashing" and easy to digest because of the quality of the protein. It is so smooth and tastes great!" Jenny Donnelly

I have to admit, after my personal trials and experiences I whole-heartedly agree. He describes RESILIENCE as not what happens to you, but how you react to, respond to and Recover from what happens to you.
In business and in our everyday lives, our resilience is challenged daily. Trials are part of life. Its your response and the layers of positive recovery after positive recovery that lay the foundation of experience. Each experience you respond to positively and recover from builds inner strength, personal integrity, and character.
I have seen my husband build his character and integrity by recovering from one trial after another with an attitude of learning from each experience to become a better husband, father, and leader. Resiliency builds trust, and trust builds respect. That mutual respect and RESILIENCY has made me love him more after twenty years than in the first years of being newlyweds. Great leadership starts with YOU. It spills out into your marriage and family and overflows into your work and community.
If you want to be a great leader ask yourself:
How do I react, respond and recover when life throws adversity my way?
Your answer to that question determines your level of RESILIENCY. I welcome the opportunity to build mine, and I welcome the lessons I learn from each trial. I hope you will choose to do the same.
Resiliency: The Essence of Leadership
Recently I was reading a great book by Jeffrey Gitomer. Its called the Little Book of Leadership, and it got me thinking about the journey my husband and I have been on for the past 20 years of our marriage. Through all the positive and negative events, the one thread binding us together is our extreme love for one another. This love has been developed and strengthened over years of trials. Trials that each of you have every day while leading your families, friends, and co-workers. The trials we have overcome helped me to understand the idea of RESILIENCE.
Jeffrey Gitomer says that RESILIENCE is the true measure of a leader. Its your courage, your inner strength and your ability to rebound when someone or something knocks you down. RESILIENCE is how you react, respond and recover from those situations, and it starts with your strength of attitude. Attitude resilience gets you from the pity party to I can overcome this. The trial now becomes an experience that you can use along with a good attitude, and self-education as a motivation to do better. he says.
