Example: Energy efficient halogen bulbs range from $7 to $23 per bulb. Though a regular bulb can be purchased for under half the cost of an energy efficient bulb, the cost savings of an energy efficient bulb is much greater than that of a regular bulb. Halogen bulbs are found to be 10% to 20% more efficeitn than an ordinary incandescent bulb of similar voltage, wattage, and left expectancy. They also last longer, and are often brigher than that of a regular bulb (Klipstein, 2008).
