About Me About Me
I moved to Bristol in 1998 to study a BA in Archaeology at the University of Bristol. After graduating I undertook an MA in Archaeology for Screen Media, where I discovered my passion for editing. Alongside my fellow students I made short films about historical sights, with my preference always to take the role of editor. I graduated in September 2002 with a Commendation and expanded on my experience by undertaking a number of work experience placements, before taking a permanent position in 2003.
I started my career on the first rung of the ladder working as a runner at Films_59, quickly followed by a promotion, working in the Avid Support Department within six months. These posts gave me a good grounding in all elements involved in the post production industry and I became proficient at trouble shooting technical problems, digitising, media management, OMFs and playouts. In 2006 I moved to BBC Bristol to take the role of Edit Assistant on the BBC4 strand TimeShift, before becoming Assistant Editor on the popular BBC 1 daytime programme, Bargain Hunt. Working here I undertook a number of broadcast edits and in 2008 I took the plunge and became a Freelance Editor. Since then I have worked on a wide variety of projects including Observational Documentaries, Documentaries, Cookery, Factual Entertainment and Presenter led programmes examples of which can be found on my portfolio page.
I enjoy the creative challenge of being an editor, being able to construct a strong story using pictures, sound and graphics. I am well organised, with a good attention for detail, I work well under pressure and am dedicated to every project that I undertake. I work well on my own but I also enjoy collaborating with producers, offering new ideas and innovative approaches. Although I am Bristol based I undertake work across the UK and abroad.
If you would like to know more about my skills and experience please contact me.
I have experience of working for a number of companies for Broadcast channels, for further information please take a look at my CV
