Exploiting The Internet As Money Machine!
The internet is the greatest money machine in these days. Google,
Yahoo, Amazon or Ebay have achieved a higher market capitalization than
many traditional brick and mortar companies. Google has grown within a
few year’s to a value of more than $77 billion.
How is most of the money made?
The big search engines make most of the money with advertisement revenues. Google Adwords and Overture are the leading cash machines. Other search engines and directories also rely on advertisement revenues. The higher their Google Page Rank, the more often they demand fees for directory listings. DMOZ is the only directory with a top Page Rank, where a listing of a website is free of charge. It is, however, almost impossible to get listed at the Open Directory Project.
China says Web use surpasses that in U.S.
SHANGHAI: China said the number of Internet users in the country reached about 253 million last month, helping China overtake the United States as the world's biggest Internet market.
The estimate, released by the China Internet Network Information Center in Beijing, shows a powerful surge in Internet adoption in this country over the past few years, particularly among teenagers.
The estimate, based on a national survey, shows that the number of Internet users jumped more than 50 percent, or by about 90 million, during the past year, suggesting that China could soon have more than 300 million people using the Internet for everything from news to online shopping.

The music industry is very different from standard >fmcg< [fast-moving-consumer-goods] industries. The marketing departments of other industries typically have a much longer period in which to plan. Ironically, they're called >fast-moving-consumer-goods< - but we're even faster moving!
We can release, market and gain chart success for a record within 2 or 3 months. It's physically possible to do that. More traditional industries are not like that. This marketing department [at SMG] is involved in the full scope of activities.
Marketing departments at record companies tend to be the pivotal element of the organization. Any record company is truly run by the marketers.
In the music industry, record producing (or music producing) has many roles, among them controlling the recording sessions, coaching and guiding the performers, and supervising the recording, mixing and mastering processes. This has been a major function of producing since the inception of sound recording, but in the latter half of the 20th century producers also took on a wider entrepreneurial role. These activities comprise record production.
Mastering is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio to a medium that will be used in the production of copies. The specific medium varies, depending on the intended release format of the final product. For digital audio releases, there is more than one possible master medium, chosen based on replication factory requirements and/or record label security concerns. The chosen medium is then used as the source from which all copies will be made (Pressing, Duplication and Replication).
A recent trend is mixing to 5.1, which is "surround" audio. This requires 6 channels of audio: left, center, right, left rear, right rear, and low frequencies (subwoofer). In commercial release, only DVD video has a standard. The demand for 5.1 in the audio and music domain was once small but has recently increased dramatically, along with the introduction of 7.1 & 9.1 surround channel audio.
Audio mixing is used for sound recording, audio editing and sound systems to balance the relative volume and frequency content of a number of sound sources. Typically, these sound sources are the different musical instruments in a band or vocalists, the sections of an orchestra and so on.
Sometimes audio mixing is done live by a sound engineer or recording engineer, for example at rock concerts and other musical performances where a public address system (PA) is used. A typical concert has two mixers, one located in the audience to mix the front of house speakers heard by the audience, and the other is located at the side of the stage, mixing for the monitor speakers positioned directly in front of the performers so that they can hear one another.
Another example of live mixing is a DJ mixing two records together. Break beats are created by mixing between identical breaks. Often the end of one pre-recorded song is mixed into another so that the transition is seamless, which is done through beat-matching or beat-mixing, and possibly pitch control.
At other times, audio mixing is done in studios as part of multitrack recording in order to produce digital or analog audio recordings, or as part of an album, film or television program (remix).
