to look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true;
to think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best;

The most important Law in Mini soccer is Law 18. This mythical law is taught in all referee course and states that the Spirit of the Law is more important than the letter.
Mini soccer is a FUN league. Referees have been instructed to use their judgment liberally to ensure a fun experience within the SPIRIT of the Laws. This includes giving "do-overs" at their discretion.
Please note:
8 players (7 plus keeper) per side during games;
All kicks are indirect - one cannot score directly from free kick, a second player must touch it before it can go in the net;
Players must be 6 yards from the ball on kicks;
Keeper can handle the ball in the 6 yard box - the rules for the 18 yard box apply in the 6 instead;
No offsides;
Substitutions on any throw-in, goal kick or goal.
The complete Laws of the Game can be found in the referee section.
Every player receives his / her jersey, shorts, and socks.

sponsorship
As the 2012 Sponsor Convenors for Southwest London Optimist Outdoor Soccer, we are proud to tell you about Southwest and the Team Sponsorship program for the upcoming 2012 season which will run from May to August.
The Club of Southwest London Optimist Outdoor Soccer is a not-for-profit and fully-volunteer-run club which offers recreational soccer programs to over 1,500 London children between 5 and 18 years old every year.
For over 35 years, we have been supported by business and service organizations large and small that share the "Friend of Youth" philosophy. Team Sponsorship allows us to keep the program affordable and thus accessible to as many families as possible. Team Sponsorship further subsidizes families who are in need so thattheir children needn't miss the opportunity to develop skills and learn firsthand about sportsmanship and teamwork.
Team sponsorship is $250 per team. As a sponsor you are entitled to name your team. Your business logo will be screened onto each player's jersey. A plaque recognizingyour contribution will be presented to you for display at your place of business at the end of the season.
We both have been volunteer Coachs and Convenors for many years. We have worked with many dedicated volunteers and many more bright, young, active boys and girls. We can honestly say that our families have been enriched by recreational outdoor soccer. We know your support has a lasting positive impact in many London homes.
On behalf of all the 2012 players and their families, we ask you to consider becoming a Team Sponsor. Please feel free to contact either one of us if you have any questions. Thank you for your generosity and I look forward to welcoming you as Team Sponsor.

faq
Can my 4 year old play?
The division is designed for five year olds. We will accept four year olds, who are able to play safely, only if there is space left once regular registration is complete
Can I volunteer?
This is completely a volunteer run organization. We require help as conveners, coaches, equipment, cup week, administration and on the executive. You can volunteer by filling out the appropriate section on the registration form or by calling the soccer hotline.
How does the age group thing work?
Age groups are based on the year a player was born. U10 stands for Under 10 and is made up of players who, on January 1st of the season year where under 10 years old. The division would include players turning 9 or 10 during the year.
What if my child changes their mind?
Refunds are available (less the processing fee) up to the day of the first game of the season (not your teams first game). As the spot has been reserved for your child, NO refund can be given after the season starts.
My children are in different age groups, but I would like them together, can one change division?
If there is room and child is able to play safely, they may play UP one division. Under no conditions will a child be allowed to play down.
Can my children be on the same team as her best friends?
With over 1,000 players, we cannot accommodate all placement requests. However, if both players indicate a desire to play with each other on the registration form, we will ATTEMPT to fill that request. Note that requests for more than one companion will not be filled. We are the only club in London that continues to offer this opportunity for all age groups.
What about jewellery?
Every year some players are not allowed to play in a game because they are wearing jewellery. These items can cause injury to the wearer and other players. The rule is simple. NO JEWELLERY of any kind. If you were not born with it, you can't wear it. No taping or covering is permitted. If it "can't come out" then you can't play.
The only exceptions are (a) medic alert items - they must be taped so they are not loose or have any hanging ends, (b) soft joint supports, (c) hard joint supports may be worn IF they are covered by the manufacturers protective covering, (d) casts may be allowed if covered by sufficient padding (bubblewrap is best).
The referree is the sole judge of what is safe. Different officials may make different decisions. Just because one referee did not see it or allowed it does not mean it is OK in future games.
Where do you play?
Games and practices are held at a number of locations in the southwest, including Southwest Optimist Park, Reservoir, Westmount Lions, Jesse Davidson, Greenway Park, as well as area public and high schools.
What else will we have to buy?
Your child will receive (and keeps) a jersey, shorts and socks. For safety reasons, your child must wear shin pads. Soccer cleats are highly recommended.
How long is the season?
For U10 and younger the season starts the first week of June and culminates with CUP week the 2nd week of August?
For U12 and older the Season starts the third week of May, regular season ends the second week of August. Play-offs run to the beginning of September
Do you keep score?
U10 and younger divisions are entirely for fun. No scores, standings are kept and there are no playoffs.
U12 and older play in the Western Counties league with teams from across the city. Standings are kept and posted, and play-offs are held
Can I sponsor a team?
Team sponsorship allows us to keep our fees as low as possible and provides visability for your business. For $250 your name and logo are printed on the team’s sweater as well as all schedules and standing publications. If you would like more information contact the soccer hotline.
I have read the FAQ's and I still have questions.
You can contact us at swsoccer_live.ca or call the Soccer hotline at 519-641-8143

Southwest London Competitive Soccer Club
We welcome players who are looking for a higher level of competition.
Teams are formed through completive try-outs. It should be noted that equal playing time is NOT guaranteed. Team policy varies and should be discussed with the coach before signing your player card
For all competitive teams, a higher level of dedication is expected. There are a number of levels of play which are summarized below. Generally, the higher the level the more dedication is required. At a minimum, most teams will required 2-3 events per week, a number of tournaments and fitness and skills training on your own time.
All teams will have additional costs above registration, for tournaments, special training or apparel. These should be discussed with the team coach before trying out.
Season runs from Early May to mid September
