"I have a very strong memory of sitting in front of the television with my family and sharing a great old movie or science fiction TV show. The warmth, laughter and excitement we experienced together will forever be in my heart and I always wanted to be a part of something that could evoke such precious emotions. I'm in this business because I LOVE movies."
Suzanne was born in England. Her father Phillip, a singer from Guyana, met her mother Ruby, from Jamaica, in London.
"Dad is an amazing singer and had a well known band in England. He dropped out of the music business when my sister and I were born to support the family. When we began showing signs of creativity, he nurtured it. Music was my first love and we always had great family nights in front of the T.V. watching old musicals."
Suzanne started dance classes and performed in every school musical. She sang lead in a few bands ranging in style from Jazz to Funk, all the while excelling in drama.
"I actually started acting professionally quite late. A dear friend, who was an actor, introduced me to her agent after I began taking some acting classes and I auditioned for her Agency. They actually didn't want to sign me. They thought I didn't have enough experience, but as I was walking out something struck me and I turned around saying, I can do this. I know I can. The next day I was signed. I've been working ever since."
Fresh from filming Christmas in Wonderland, where youll get to see her play an overzealous Zellers employee making Patrick Swayzes life more than a little difficult, Suzanne Bastien proves she has the comedic chops to work alongside, Tim Currie, Carmen Elektra and Chris Kattan.
Once considered the commercial queen of Vancouver, this actress is more than a sparkling smile with a growing Canadian fan base. Since hosting Zed Candid for the CBC in 2006, Bastien has appeared in over ten productions and ten commercials. These include a supporting role in the lifetime feature A Trick of the Mind opposite Alexandra Holden, and television appearances on The L Word, Pysch and Kyle XY; for her role in Kyle XY Bastien played a memorable, larger than life, television psychic. This year also had Suzanne filming features opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in Addicted, Jamie King and Pei-Pei Cheng in They Wait and was featured in Case 39 starring Renne Zellwegger.
A fan of creative challenges, Bastien gave a touching portrayal of a Nigerian car bomb victim in Ashes Fall (AFI Dallas film festival). She also played a breast cancer survivor in Dysfunction (Rhode Island Film Festival). Eric Maran, director of Ashes Fall described her performance as Raw, natural and engaging.
Bastien has a level head when it comes to business, I am incredibly thankful for the immense support from casting directors. Getting to work with actors like Patrick Swayze and Tim Currie is such a treat.
Always ready to grow in her craft and take on new roles, this actress cant wait to heat things up in something gritty, or play the friend that tells it to you straight and gets the laughs along the way.
The feature films They Wait, Case 39 and Christmas in Wonderland will be in theaters later this year.

Hello 2009!!
Welcome to my new website! I'm very excited to finally launch and and look forward to updating you with more pictures, clips and juicy news so you can be right in the loop! I'll be blogging often I'll look forward to seeing you!
Well its been a commerical three months for me! So far, this year had me filimg ads for Peer One, Suddenlink, and Subway! I loved doing the Subway commercial. I actually stood on my head and sang a Subway song that I created! Yes I said stood on my head! Believe it or not, its one of those random things I can do thats pretty unique. I've been able to do it since I was a kid. And without a wall! Come to think of it..I can't remember how I learned. Glad I did though. Never know when it will come in handy!
Missed checking in with you all last year. I relocated to Toronto and took some time off. However, I did manage to shoot a few more commericals a feature film and a movie of the week! I filmed a cameo in The Day The Earth Stood Still, with Keanu Reeves and also worked on Fatal Kiss , a movie of the week. Along with other production products, I did more than I had planned. All great fun though.
Bye for now!
