What is the recommended image size/pixel size/resolution for images added to my Wix site? - 842979314
Does Wix automatically compress photos to a low resolution?
Is it possible to choose what resolution my photos will be uploaded at? I understand all the guidelines that need to be followed and have read all the help documentation on image quality and image sizing. However, nowhere does any of it address the real issue - is Wix determining what the resolution of every photo should be? It seems like there is a maximum resolution of 600x800, which will look pixelated even if it is medium sized on a user's screen. This would be surprising, because those resolution standard are insanely low given the importance of HD imagery in social media, branding, web design etc...
And surely you can't expect every user to own photoshop or GIMP and manually change the settings on every photo they want to use... especially if the resolution is going to be downsized automatically anyways.
For a photography portfolio where a user needs to display high quality images, is there a way for users to display images properly? Otherwise, why bother with the photography website templates at all?

I've merged your query with the relevant thread.
As stated on the Best Reply at the top of this page, it is recommended to upload the image at the size that you wish for it to be displayed. Any change you'll make later on the site itself, will affect the image quality.Tal, Wix Team

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I have been uploading my pictures at the resolution I want but they are all showing up at 600x800. Does this have to do with the size of the container? I have tried uploading to the largest possible container, but that makes no difference.

Where exactly are you seeing the 600x800 resolution? Are you uploading the images as single images or in a gallery?
