There are several options for using your email with your Wix site. You can make it easier for your visitors to contact you by using your domain email address, opening a business email address or using any other email address and adding it to elements of your site.
For information on purchasing and setting up Google Apps Emails through your Wix account, click here.
Due to Network Solutions restrictions, if you have a domain registered with Wix, you will not be able to use Network Solutions' email hosting service.
Likewise, Yahoo! Small Business Emails are not compatible with Wix domains. If you have a Yahoo Business email and plan to use it with your Wix domain, please be aware that Yahoo requires full control over your DNS records and if you purchase a Wix domain, you will need to transfer the domain away from Wix and to Yahoo.
If you have a personalized email account with your domain (such as firstname.lastname@example.org), you will need to update your domain records in the Wix Domain Manager after connecting your domain to Wix. You will need to update these records so that your emails can be redirected back to your email host.
To use your domain email with your site:
• If your domain is pointing to your Wix site by IP:
Please contact your domain hosting company and ask them to remove the MX records that are pointing to Wix.
• If your domain is connected to your Wix site with nameservers:
Please ask your email hosting company what records will need to be added and add these records to the Wix Domain Manager (My Account > Domains). In the Wix Domain Manager, you can add MX records, A records, CNAME records and TXT records. For more information about selecting an email provider and updating your domain records, click here.
If you have not connected your domain to your Wix site yet, click here for detailed instructions.
If you cannot send or receive emails after you've connected your domain, double check and make sure that you've followed the above steps correctly.
1) My domain host provided me with an IP address (example: 123.456.789.258) but no MX records, or with an IP address and an MX record that looks like this: mail.yourdomain.com.
Solution: An MX record is an address, not an IP number. An example of an MX record is: mx1.biz.mail.yahoo.com
If the records provided by the email host look like this:
A mail.wixdomain.com 188.8.131.52 MX wixdomain.com mail.wixdomain.com
Then the A record MUST be added before the MX record.
If you get an "Invalid email server" error when adding your records, copy the A record's IP address into the field instead of the MX record:
2) In the Wix Domain Manager, I have selected Godaddy as my email provider, but my email is still not working.
Solution: When selecting an email provider in the Wix Domain Manager, there are three options for GoDaddy: US, Europe and Asia. Please make sure that you have selected the correct GoDaddy setting based on your location.
3) Can you please change the priority of my MX records from 10 and 20 to 10 and 10?
Solution: The priority of your MX records is automatically determined by the order that you add them to the Wix Domain Manager. The first record will be given a priority of 10, the next record will be given a priority of 20, and so on.
Important Note: Please be aware that the priorities (0, 10, 20 etc.) are only arbitrary numbers that indicate the order of MX records. Simply enter your records in an ascending order from lowest to highest.
4) My email host provided me with CNAME records instead of or in addition to MX records.
Solution: In some cases your email host will provide you with CNAME records and you will need to add these to the Wix Domain Manager. Please note that a CNAME record must point to a URL and not to an IP address. For instructions on adding CNAME records, click here.
Two examples of CNAME records are as follows:
pop server: pop3.hosts.co.uk
Using the above example, in the CNAME record fields in the Wix Domain Manager, Alias Name is imap or pop. And Points to Host is pop3.hosts.co.uk or imap.secureserver.info.
