• Overview

With the Wix Online Store you can turn your Wix website into an online shop in minutes. It's simple, the results are beautiful and we don't take a cent of your sales!

Please note: This is a Premium eCommerce package feature. You can try it out for free in the Wix Editor but to start selling you'll need to upgrade to the Wix eCommerce package. For upgrading instructions, click here.

Please note that if you created an eCommerce store before May 23rd 2011 and you want to add the new options to your products (see the below section, Adding Product Options, for details), you will have to delete your store and add a new product gallery.

    Adding Product Options

When selling items that include different options (various sizes or colors, for example) you can set up customization options for your item that will appear on the item's Product Page. Your customers will then be able to choose from the various options when purchasing the item from your online store. When a customer clicks on an item in your product gallery, a product page that includes all of your item details opens. The product page also includes any customization options that you have made available for that particular item. Your customer can choose from the different options and then add the customized item to the shopping cart.

You can add any two of the following four product options:

Size Buttons: Small buttons that can display up to four characters each. These are perfect for displaying available product sizes!
Color Buttons: Buttons that display any colors of your choosing.
Drop-Down Menu: A drop-down menu of options for your customers to choose from.
Message Box: A text box that allows customers to write a short message to you when making a purchase.

    Adding Size Buttons

If your store has items that have several size options available, you can add size buttons to your product pages that allow your customers to choose from the different sizes. You can also set a price variation for each of the size selections.

    To add size buttons:

    1. Click on your eCommerce gallery to select it.
    2. From the Product Gallery property panel to the right of the Editor, click Manage.
    3. On the left of the Manage Products window, click on a product to select it.
    4. On the right of the Manage Products window, under Product Options, click Add Option.

    5. From the Product Options window, under Size Buttons, click Continue.

    6. Under Title, type short instructions for your customers (for example: Choose a size).

The Title will be displayed on the product page next to your size buttons. It will also be displayed next to your customer's choice in the shopping cart and during the checkout process.

    7. Click Add Selection.
    8. Under Button, type a name for your button.

Each button can display up to four characters.

    9. Under Tooltip, type a description for your button.

The Tooltip appears when a user rolls over a button. For example, if you name your button S and name your tooltip Small, when a user rolls over the S, a tooltip will appear with the word Small, indicating to the user that the S stands for Small. The Tooltip of the button that your customer chooses will also be displayed in the shopping cart and during the checkout process.

Important! The Tooltip appears in your merchant account and lets you know which option your customer chose. Therefore it is highly recommended that you add a Tooltip!

    10. Under Surcharge, type the difference in price for this product option.

Your surcharge value indicates whether or not the price of the product will change when a customer selects a particular option. For example, if you are selling shirts for $12.99 and you would like to charge an additional 50 cents for a large size, you will set the surcharge value at $0.50 for the Large option. Similarly, you can set a discount for a particular option by setting the surcharge value to $ - 0.50. You can add up to two product options to each item.

    8. Under your title, click on the color button. From the Fill Picker, click a color. Click OK.

    9. Under Tooltip, type a description for your button.

The Tooltip appears when a user rolls over a button. For example, if your color button is blue and your tooltip description is Midnight Blue, when a user rolls over the color button, a tooltip will appear with the words Midnight Blue, indicating to the user that the color button stands for Midnight Blue.
