You can now purchase your domain directly from Wix! When purchasing a domain from Wix, your new Wix domain will be automatically connected to the Wix servers. Connecting a domain to your Wix site has never been easier!

If you have a Yahoo Business email and plan to use it with your Wix domain, please be aware that Yahoo requires full control over your DNS records and if you purchase a Wix domain, you will need to transfer the domain away from Wix and to Yahoo. Should you still choose to purchase a Wix domain, you can find information about transferring your Wix domain below.

You can now purchase your domain directly from Wix! You can purchase your domain through the Wix Domain Manager. Your new Wix domain will be automatically connected to the Wix servers.

You will also have the option to purchase a Wix domain when purchasing a Premium package. When purchasing a Wix Premium package, the final Congratulations screen will give you the option to also purchase a domain. To purchase a domain from the Congratulations screen, begin with Step 4 in the guide below.

If you are claiming a free domain, simply follow the steps below to register the domain. In the Purchase screen, under Step 2: Service Term, the box next to Use my free 1-Year Domain gift will be checked and you will see the discount applied to your total before you complete your purchase.

What is the cost of a Wix domain?

    One Year: $14.95
    Two Years: $27.90
    Three Years: $38.85

Please note that these prices do not apply to .biz domains.

To purchase a domain from Wix:

1. Sign into Wix.com and go to My Account.
2. From My Account, click Manage Premium.
3. From Manage Premium, click the Domains tab.
4. Under Connect Your Own Domain Now, type a domain name in the field.
5. From the drop-down menu next to the domain name field, choose an extension. Click Search to see if the domain is available.

Wix currently offers .com, .org, .net, .biz, .co.uk and .info extensions.
If your domain is unavailable, go back to Step 4 above.

6. When you find an available domain, click Get It! to register your domain.

Be sure to verify that you have written your domain name correctly! Once you have purchased a domain, you will not be able to edit, cancel or delete it.

7. From the domain registration screen, under Step 1: Public or Private Registration, mark the circle next to Public Registration or Private Registration. Click Next.

Please note that .co.uk extensions do not have a Private Registration option.
If you don’t want your contact details to appear in the WHOIS domain information records, choose Private Registration.

Important! You will not be able to change this setting (this is true for domain registration in general, not just with Wix).

If you purchased the option to make your information private, you can temporarily turn the privacy protection option on and off but this would result in a temporary change only. In other words, if you choose to keep your information private when purchasing, the option will always remain a part of your domain purchase, even when renewing. Conversely, if you don't choose the option to make your information private when purchasing, it will always remain public and you will not have the option to change it to private, even when renewing.

8. Under Step 2: Service Term, choose the length of time that you would like to register your domain for. Click on the bar above 1 Year, 2 Years or 3 Years to choose the length of your contract. Click Next.

Important! If you are claiming a free domain, please note that the voucher is for one year only. You will be charged if you add additional years. Choosing the Private Domain option (see the step above) is also not included in the one year domain voucher.

9. Under Step 3: Review Domain Contact Information, fill in the fields. Click Next.

If there are already details in the Registrant Contact fields and you would like to update them, click Change in the upper right corner.

What contact information should you list in your domain registration?

Registrant Contact: the person or company who is the licensee of the domain name and has the right to use, sell or remove a domain name.
Tech Contact: the person responsible for the technical aspects of maintaining the domain, such as updating the domain records.
Admin Contact: the representative of the Registrant Contact. This person is authorized by the Registrant Contact to make any relevant changes to the domain name.

10. Under Step 4: Billing Information, fill in your credit card details. Click Submit Purchase.

PayPal is currently not a supported method of payment.

11. On the Success Page , to connect your new domain to one of your Wix sites, click Continue.

You now own a new domain. To assign it to your Wix site, see the Assigning Your Wix Domain to Your Wix Site section below and follow the instructions.

If you registered for a domain name directly from the Congratulations screen after purchasing a package, your domain will be automatically connected to the website that you have upgraded.

Once you have chosen a Wix site to connect your domain to, your Wix domain will be automatically connected to your Wix site and to your Wix Mobile site (when applicable).

 

Note: Due to Network Solutions restrictions, if you have a domain registered with Wix, you will not be able to use Network Solutions' email hosting service.

Likewise, Yahoo! Small Business Emails are not compatible with Wix domains. If you have a Yahoo Business email and plan to use it with your Wix domain, please be aware that Yahoo requires full control over your DNS records and if you purchase a Wix domain, you will need to transfer the domain away from Wix and to Yahoo.

Now that you have purchased a Wix domain, you will need to assign it to one of your Wix sites (if you haven't already). In the Basic and Advanced tabs of the Wix Domain Manager, you will also be able to select an email provider and manage your domain records.

 

Assigning Your Wix Domain to Your Wix Site

You can easily connect your Wix domain with your Wix website.

You can only assign a domain to a Wix site that has been upgraded to a Premium package which includes connecting your own domain. If you only have one Premium package, to reassign a domain, you will first have to transfer the Premium package to your new site. To assign your Wix domain to your Wix site:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click your Wix domain.

2. Under Domain Summary, in the Basic tab, next to Wix Site, click Change.

3. Under Connect Your Wix Site, choose a Wix document to assign your domain to.

4. Click Save, then click Done.

Your Wix domain is assigned to your Wix site.

 

Choosing an Email Provider

You can activate your domain email, by selecting your email provider in the Domain Manager.

If your email provider is not on our list or you need to add additional MX records, please follow the steps here.

 

To choose an email provider:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click a domain.

2. Under Domain Summary, in the Basic tab, next to Email Provider, click Change.

3. Select an email provider from the drop-down menu.

If your email provider is not listed in the drop-down menu, please select Other and ask your email host for their MX records. In the Domain Manager, update the MX records in the fields provided under Other. For more details about MX records, click here.

4. Click Save, then click Done.

Your email provider has changed.

 

Managing Your Domain Records

You can easily update your Wix domain records in the Domain Manager. You can add and update MX records, A records, CNAME records and TXT records.

 

To manage your domain records:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click a domain.
2. Under Domain Summary, click the Advanced tab.
3. From the Advanced tab, next to DNS Records, click Manage.

You can now manage your domain records. Click here for full instructions on adding or updating MX, CNAME, TXT and A records.

In the Wix Domain Manager, you will be able to manage your domain name payment. You can renew your domain name, set your auto renewal preference, update your billing details and view your invoices.

Please keep in mind that you will not be able to use a free domain voucher to renew a domain. The use of free domain vouchers is limited to the purchase of new domains only.

Renewing Your Domain Name

You can renew your Wix domain name before it expires by going into the Payments tab of your Domain Summary.

To renew your domain name:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click your Wix domain.
2. Under Domain Summary, click the Payments tab.
3. Next to Expiration Date, click Renew.

4. Under Domain Options, choose the length of time that you would like to register your domain for. Click on the bar above 1y (one year),2y (two year) or 3y (three year) to choose the length of contract.

5. Under Billing Information, fill in your credit card details.

6. Click Submit Purchase.

Your domain name is renewed.

Changing Your Auto Renewal Option

You can set up your account to auto renew your domain name when it is about to expire to prevent service disruptions.

When you purchase a Wix domain, this payment option will be set to "auto renew" by default.

To change your auto renewal option:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click your Wix domain.
2. Under Domain Summary, click the Payments tab.
3. Next to Auto Renewal, click Change.

4. From the Auto Renewal window, click the radio dial next to the auto renewal or manual option.

5. Click Save, then click Done.

Your auto renewal option changes.

Temporarily Updating Privacy Registration (if applicable)

If you purchased the option to make your information private, you can temporarily turn the privacy protection option on and off.

Please note that this would result in a temporary change only. If you choose to keep your information private when purchasing, the option will always remain a part of your domain purchase, even when renewing. Conversely, if you don't choose the option to make your information private when purchasing, it will always remain public and you will not have the option to change it to private, even when renewing.

To temporarily update privacy protection:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click your Wix domain.
2. Under Domain Summary, click the Payments tab.
3. Next to Privacy Protection, click Turn Private Registration off.

4. From the Edit Private Registration window, click the radio dial next to the Leave Private Registration on or Turn Private Registration off option.

5. Click Save, then click Done.

Your private registration option changes.

Updating Payment Details

You can easily change your billing details from the Payments tab of your Domain Summary in the Wix Domain Manager.

To update your payment details:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click your Wix domain.
2. Under Domain Summary, click the Payments tab.
3. Next to Last Payment, click Update.

4. In the Billing Details window, update your payment details.

5. Click Submit, then click Done.

Your payment details are updated.

If you have purchased a Wix domain, but have decided to transfer it away from Wix, you can do so easily from the Wix Domain Manager.

Currently a domain can only be transferred from Wix to another domain host. You will not be able to transfer a non-Wix domain that you already own to Wix. You will also not be able to transfer your Wix domain to another Wix account.

Please note that you will only be able to transfer your domain 60 days after you purchase it from Wix. In accordance with ICANN rules, there is a mandatory 60-day waiting period between registering your domain and transferring it.

To transfer your Wix domain from Wix:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click your Wix domain.
2. Under Domain Summary, click the Payments tab.
3. Under the payment details, click Transfer away from Wix.

4. In the Transfer window, click Send.

5. An email with a code will be sent to you. Forward this code to your new domain registrar.
You may not receive the email immediately, but you can expect to receive it on the same day.

Your Wix domain is transferred from Wix.

You can update your domain name contact information from the Wix Domain Manager. You can edit your registrant, tech and admin contact information from the Contact Information tab of your Domain Summary.

To update your contact information:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click your Wix domain.
2. Under Domain Summary, click the Contact Information tab.
3. Next to your contact information, click Change.

4. In the Contact window that opens, update the fields.

5. Click Save, then click Done.

Your contact details are updated.

You will not be able to cancel or delete a domain that you have purchased from Wix; please be sure to verify that you have written your domain name correctly! You can only transfer the domain to a different site within your Wix account or to a site outside of Wix.

Please note that Wix domain purchases are separate from Premium package purchases and do not have a 14-day free trial policy. Wix domain purchases are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled.
