With Wix, you can connect your domain to your Wix creation so that when visitors type in your domain they will automatically be taken to your site! You can connect your domain to our servers in one of two ways: by pointing your domain to Wix's IP or by connecting to Wix's name servers. Below you will find step-by-step instructions on connecting your domain to Wix using name servers. For information on connecting by pointing, click here.

You will have to purchase a domain from a domain registrar of your choice before you can connect it to your Wix site.

If you upgrade to the Combo, Unlimited or eCommerce Yearly package, you will receive a free domain for one year.

When connecting your domain to your Wix site using name servers, the domain name stays at your hosting company and connects to the Wix servers. Connecting to our name servers transfers control of your domain records to Wix.

To connect your domain to your Wix site with name servers (DNS):

1. Purchase a domain from a domain hosting company.

2. Ask your domain host to connect your domain to NS1.WIX.COM and NS2.WIX.COM

3. On Wix.com, go to My Account and click Manage Premium.

4. From Manage Premium, click the Domains tab.

5. Under Add & Connect Domains, click Already have a domain?

6. Under Wix Name Servers (DNS), click Next.

7. Under Connect your domain to Wix, in the Domain Name field, type in your domain address (without www), then click Continue.

8. Under Choose Your Email Provider, select an email provider from the drop-down menu if you have one.

If your email provider is not listed in the drop-down menu, please select Other and ask your domain host for their MX records. In the Domain Manager, update the MX records in the fields provided under Other. For more details about MX records, click here.

9. Under Connect Your Wix Site, choose the Wix document to connect your domain to.

10. Click Save, then click Done.

Your domain is connected to your Wix site with name servers.

It may take up to 72 hours for the change to take effect.

You cannot update the spelling of a domain name once you have added it to the Domain Manager. If you need to update the domain name, please add a new domain with the correct spelling and delete the old addition.

You can easily switch the Wix site that your domain is connected to.

You can only assign a domain to a Premium Wix site. If you only have one Premium package, to reassign a domain, you will first have to transfer the Premium package to your new site. For more information about transferring Premium packages, click here.

To connect a domain to a different Wix site:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click a domain.

2. Under Domain Summary, next to Wix Site, click Change.

3. Under Connect Your Wix Site, choose a Wix document to connect your domain to.

4. Click Save, then click Done.

Your domain is connected to a different Wix site.

In order for your domain to work properly, it must be correctly connected to your Wix site. Generally there are two steps that you need to take for this to happen: (1) you must inform your domain host by letting your host know where to point your domain name to (2) you must enter your information in the Domain Manager. You can check if you have completed these steps correctly by following the instructions below.

To check the connection of your domain to your Wix site:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click a domain.

2. Under Domain Summary, next to Wix Site, click Check connection.

You have checked the connection of your domain to your Wix site.

To connect your domain and keep your domain email, select your email provider in the Domain Manager.

If your email provider is not on our list or you need to add additional MX records, please follow the steps here.

To select a different email provider:

1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click a domain.

2. Under Domain Summary, next to Email Provider, click Change.

3. Select an email provider from the drop-down menu.

If your email provider is not listed in the drop-down menu, please select Other and ask your domain host for their MX records. In the Domain Manager, update the MX records in the fields provided under Other. For more details about MX records, click here.

4. Click Save, then click Done.

Your email provider has changed.

If there is a domain on your list of domains that you are no longer using or that you would like to remove from your Wix site, you may delete a domain listed in the domain manager.

To delete a domain:

1. From Wix.com, go to My Account and click Manage Premium.

2. From Manage Premium, click the Domains tab.

3. From the list under My Domains, click the red X next to the domain.

4. From the pop-up window, click Yes, delete.

Your domain is deleted.
