Adding a drop down text box

    Ticket by dianemarie2000 | September 3, 2012 | Question
    • Hi there, I see that the Wix website has been created using the Wix software.  Can you tell me how I can get a drop down box to appear when something is clicked on.  For example, on your own site, if you go to Premium, then click on "Wix Premium Plans" a box drops down.  How do I do this please?
      Thanks, Diane

      Hi Diane,

The Wix site was created using Wix's technology but not completely using our editor, as they are features that need to be tailor made for a large scale site as ours.

You can workaround this feature by doing the following:

Create 2 pages, one with the content you want and the button to open it, and the other is the page with the content on. Then simply link the button to the second page, and it will look like it has opened it.

If you need any further assistance please let us know.

      Thanks,

      Gabriel - Wix

      Hi, thanks for your reply.

"Then simply link the button to the second page, and it will look like it has opened it." - No it won't!  It will be obvious that it hasnt just slid out, but that in fact a new page has opened!

I think that it's very misleading that the site says "wix.com has proudly been created using Wix", when in fact it hasn't really.  On reading this, I presumed that the software we accessed would have the same capabilities as your own site, but it's just not true.

I do think that Wix is fab and it's got some great features, but misleading customers isn't cool.  Either your site is made using Wix, or its not and it clearly isn't.

      Hi,

I'm sorry for the confusion, it is indeed a workaround and it should do the best to recreate this feature.

I'm afraid that other than that there is currently no option to accomplish this effect, although if you choose a different transition, such as Out-In, and make sure the menu and all static objects are indeed in the header/footer, so only the page itself moves, it should look more alike.

I have forwarded your feedback to the relevant department and we will investigate the written material.

Thanks, and we apologize for the inconvenience,

@tonyduffy01744, thank you for your wonderful feedback! When customizing your drop down menu, you have 30 colors in your palette to choose from. There are 3 different Styles you can set for your menus as well.

In general, you can customize your site's color palette with 35 different colors. You can do this via Design > Colors > Customize Palette > choose the colors you want to use in your site here.

*You can also add your own customized colors to the editor via the Hex # here.

Wix is constantly adding new features to the Editor. We will release more colors in due time for you, however I cannot give you an exact date of when this will happen. You can always keep up to date with our features coming soon here.

You can add text on top of a Box right now. Simply add your Box to the page > then add your Text on top of it via Add > Text. Are you having issues doing this?

I was search for a drop down text box and read more features also... this isn't good  for my really long FAQ page.
