    • Hi,

I've done many site which have lots of interactivity, galleries, videos, etc. but they usually load within a normal time.  The site at www.RocklandCountyPersonalInjuryLawyer.com has been pretty slow loading from the beginning, but it seems that it's slower now.  Today it was absolutly impossible to get it to load.  I did the webtestpage analysys and it showed that the page took over 14 seconds to load. Here is a copy of the rating (I don't know what they mean):

      B - First Byte Time

      A - Keep-alive Enabled

      A - Compress Transfer

      A - Compress Images

      F - Progressive JPEGs

      B - Cache static content

Check mark -Effective use of CDN

Web Page Performance Test for www.rocklandcountypersonalinjurylawyer.com From: New York, NY USA - Chrome - Cable 8/27/2014 3:35:58 PM

For some reason it didn't work on IE.

I would appreciate any help you can give!

      Thanks

      Adriana

      Hi Adriana,

Thank you for contacting the Wix support team.

I preformed a loading time test on your site, see results here.

I see that you have a very heavy home page, over 5 MB, this means you have a lot of heavy elements on your pages.

Keep in mind that there are two main factors that affect the loading time:

      1. The size of your website

      2. The Internet connection that you have through your ISP

Since we cannot do anything to help your site regarding factor 2, your main goal should

      be optimizing your site's size.

Heavy content such as galleries, video's, HTML coding etc. will cause longer load times.

To ensure that you maintain the quality of your photos and decrease loading time to a minimum, please follow the guidelines  here .

Also please note that each page in your site is loaded separately so that if you have large amounts of media in your site it is recommended to spread it on different pages and not all on one page.

Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

      Many thanks, Barrios

      Thank you Barrios,

I understand there are a lot of heavy elements on the page, but I've done many sites with Wix where I've used even more elements than this and have never had a problem like this. Not only that, but it's even worse on mobil.  It just seems that there is something wrong and I would really appreciate it if someone could look it over to see if maybe I did something to cause it.  I appreciate your help with this.

      Thanks

      Adriana

      Hello,

Please note that there are a lot of factors that affect site performance.

On this site, specifically, you have several images that make your site heavy, as you can see here.

To rectify this, you will need to save your images in progressive .jpeg format. If you are using Gimp to improve your image quality, you will be able to make these changes in the Advanced Options section.

Please feel free to contact us in case you need further assistance.

      Hi IraBel,

Thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately I have no idea how to read the test or what pictures I have to change and what progressive jpgs means.  I see that there are "failed' images but can't see what they are.  Can you please point out to me from the website what pictures I need to change and what format to save them as. Should I save these pictures as png files? Not sure what to do and really appreciate some specific info.

Some of the pictures that are on the site were taken from my client's previous site.

Thank you so much for your help.

      Hi,

      I apologize for the inconvenience.

Please note that the test does not specify which images on your site received  lower score and we see the results just as you see it.

I recommend going over the tutorial below and follow the steps before uploading images to your site.
