    cannot point my domain. i have uploaded two screenshots for you to look at. can you comment as to wheather ive set it up correctly??

      Hi, 

      Thanks for contacting Wix Support.

      Your pointing configuration in your registrar (not Wix, but your actual domain host) is incorrect.
      To fix this, please follow the instructions here

      thanks for your reply, however the link you sent me is the same as i followed to originally make the changes... therefore your link is no good as i dont know what to change...

      can you please comment on the specific screen shots i sent you instead??

      In order to properly connect your domain to your Wix site, please send your domain host the following message:


      ' I have built a site on Wix.com. Please connect my domain to their name servers- NS1.WIX.COM (IP address 216.139.213.90) and NS2.WIX.COM (IP address 95.211.144.195). '

      thanks for your reply.

      however, i would like to simply do this myself if you could please refer to the screen shots i provided you and simply tell me which area to insert what that would be handy.

      reason is that they will charge me $40 to do it.... therefore i want to do it myself.

      Hi Jason,

      Your domain is currently connected to Wix via IP pointing

      Pointing your domain to the Wix IP means that your domain host retains control of your DNS and simply points your domain to the Wix servers.

      Wix cannot offer support for records that are under another host's control. Hence, you will need to contact your domain host for changing the records. 

      You can contact your domain host and request to change the name servers to Wix's:

      Please connect my domain to their name servers- NS1.WIX.COM (IP address 216.139.213.90) and NS2.WIX.COM (IP address 95.211.144.195).

      The difference between pointing to the Wix IP or connecting with name servers is really a difference in who has control over your DNS – Wix or your domain host.

      Please Note: Wix does NOT Recommend Pointing
      Instead we recommend connecting your domain to Wix using Wix name servers.
      Why?

      Down time when Wix IP changes:
      The primary reason we recommend connecting your domain to Wix using Wix name servers is that the Wix IP address might change in order to prevent your site from going down. This happens from time to time when natural disasters, server problem and other problems occur.
      In such events, domains connected to Wix by name servers will automatically have their DNS records updated. However, domains that are connected to Wix by IP pointing will not work until you request the new IP# from us and then manually make the changes with your domain host. This will result in a much longer down time.

      Less support & assistance: When you connect your domain to Wix by nameservers, we can offer support and assist you in creating any DNS records you might need. Whereas if you connect to Wix by pointing you would need to contact your domain host with any domain/DNS related issues.

      Feature updates must be made manually: We can automatically modify your DNS to accommodate any new feature that requires DNS changes. When choosing pointing you would need to manually make these changes with your domain host.

      so my domain is currently connected via pointing... so i dont need to do anything then???

      why doesnt it work?

      i am aware of the differences in pointing etc so no need to send me that info, but thanks anyway.  i need to point it as wix does not accept transfers of .co.nz domains.

      do i need to do anything else? not sure why its not working then?

      Hi,

      I checked your domain settings and I saw your domain is currently not pointing to Wix name servers but does pointing to Wix IP address: 23.236.62.147

      In order to properly point your domain to Wix IP address, it is not enough to only add the A record, you will also need to add a CNAME.


      To connect your domain to Wix by pointing the domain name to Wix IP address, please setup your DNS records as follows:


      For www.openwater.co.nz, create a Cname record that points to: www217.wixdns.net

      For m.openwater.co.nz, create a Cname record that points to: www217.wixdns.net.


      If you wish to point the domain name to Wix name servers, please send your domain host the following message:

      I have built a site on Wix.com. Please connect my domain to their name servers- NS1.WIX.COM (IP address 216.139.213.90) and NS2.WIX.COM (IP address 95.211.144.195).

      Hi, 

      As you can see here, the Cname are not correctly pointing . 

      If you already made the changes, propagation can take up to 72 hours.

      can you comment on the last two screen shot i sent you please....

      the email link you sent me means nothing to me.... not sure what im supposed to do with it apart from see that its not working?

      Hi,

      The domain name that you entered is not connected to Wix’s name servers and is not pointingto Wix’s IP address.

      You have two options. Please let us know if you have taken these steps and if not, please let us know the difficulties you are experiencing step by step.

      Option 1: Connect Using Name Servers (*recommended!)

      When connecting a domain to your Wix site with our nameservers, the domain stays at your hosting company and connects to the Wix servers NS1.WIX.COM and NS2.WIX.COM.

      This method transfers control of your domain records to Wix. These records can be controlled via Domain Manager of your Wix account by you!

      This will also allow your mobile site to be automatically associated with your domain!

      To connect your domain to our name servers:

               Send your domain hosting company the following message:

      I have built a site on Wix.com. Please connect my domain to their name servers- NS1.WIX.COM (IP address 216.139.213.90) and NS2.WIX.COM (IP address 207.36.47.9).

      After sending your message, please allow up to 72 hours for changes to get updated (propagate).

      If you are still having domain connection problems, try going through the troubleshooter again. If the same problem persists please contact us via the 'Need More Help?' box below.

      Option 2: Connect by Pointing (*not as effective) can be read abouthere.

      obviously ive done something wrong in my setup somewhere and this thread is just going around in circles.... im not getting anywhere and you are not answering my questions.
