As part of the beta testing, we've released this feature to a limited amount of users. However, if all goes well, this feature should be released in the near future.
Please feel free to follow this thread by clicking the "Follow" button in the first post. We'll update here as soon as we come up with anything new.Kind regards, Or - Wix Support Team.
When do you expect it in the future? I need to use it asap?
is there any way to change my background for each page? at the moment i am adding white boxes to cover the background, however it doesnt align with the footer and i cant seem to hide the background fully, is there any alternative?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide an estimate time of this feature arrival, but it will be in the bear future.
Although your workaround is not perfect, it seems to be the best solution at the moment.
We are here should you require any further assistance.Sincerely, Itamar - Wix Support
with the said method i am using, the end of my background comes up below my footer, when i pull my footer down i still get part of the background at the bottom. I cant add a white box to it?

Have you tried to add a Strip? To add a strip click Add--> Shapes and Lines --> Strip. If your issue persists, please add screenshot of the problem, just to make sure iv'e understood your issue correctly. For instructions on how to take a screenshot, please use this link.
To upload the screenshot, simply click the Insert Image button and follow the steps.
please find screen grab attached below.
as you can see , the footer sits just above the bottom of the background image. i tried to add a strip or box below it but when i do the background image just shifts further down- bascially i cant get rid of the silver background image .
