Once you have purchased a domain, you will not be able to edit, cancel or delete it. If you decide that you no longer wish to keep the domain that you purchased, you can change the auto renewal settings so that you will not be charged again after the subscription expires.

To turn off the auto renewal: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top right of the page, hover over the user panel > click Billing & Payment.

Under Domain Subscriptions, next to the relevant domain, click Manage > next to Next Payment, click Cancel payments > select No, I will renew the domain manually > click Save.

    Hi memorymonroe,

    1) If you purchased your domain from external domain hosting company you can disconnect  your domain any time for free.

If you purchased your domain through wix there is a 60 days period before you can transfer your domain.

    2) After you purchase an upgrade plan and connect your domain you will not see Wix scroll bar!

Please let me know if you need more information.

I am not sure about getting a contract with wix. I want to know if I have a monthly billing and say I want to quit wix how can I bring the domainname to another host. How can I transfer or move it and how much would that cost?  I am also a bit worried about the time it will take visitors to have my site (with several layers and flash ) loaded.  and is the wix scroll bar removed when I get an upgrade.

if I dont get an upgrade and I will connect an nameserver what name is shown and what ads are on the website. I just need some time to see if wix works for me. so maybe I want to go premium after a while. thanks for the answers!

    @drleeannegray,

Please note that both your domains (tedxstudiocityed.org and drleeannegray.com)  were purchased through Network Solutions and not through Wix.

I can also see that the 'tedxstudiocityed.com' domain is no longer pointing to your Wix site.

Is that what you were trying to achieve?

Please also note that the instructions are up to date, they are simply referring to Wix purchased domains.

If you have any further questions regarding your domains, do not hesitate to contact us again.

The instructions here seem to be out of date:

    http://support.wix.com/index.php/Domain_Management/Purchasing_Wix_Domains#Transferring_Your_Wix_Domain_from_Wix

I can't seem to find updated instructions, though I've been looking for almost an hour.

I purchased my domain *through* Wix, and would like to point that same domain to a different website hosted elsewhere (NOT on Wix). Surely there is a way to do that? Or at least transfer domain ownership?

    Hi moranfurniture,

Are you reying to tranfer domain from Wix?

    Please note:

    • To disconnect your domain from your Wix site, please ask your hosting company not to point your domain to the Wix IP address (216.139.213.144) or disconnect it from the Wix Name Servers (NS1.WIX.COM and NS2.WIX.COM).

    Hi  NEWSOMR,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties.

Unfortunately, I couldn't understand where did you experiencing difficulties, and why do you think Wix is deceptive.

We would like to help you solving the issue, and if you are able to elaborate on the matter it would be greatly appreciated.
