Site performance is very important to us at Wix! We have recently made many changes that should improve the performance and loading time of your site.

If you are still experiencing performance issues on your site, it may be because of one of the following factors:

- The speed of your own connection or an overload at your ISP during peak hours
- The amount of content on your site or home page
-  A large number of animations and/or animated behaviors/effects on your site
- Very large MP3 files which load on your home page
- A slower computer (i.e. with a slow processor or low RAM) which may load the site slowly, as it cannot process the information quickly enough.

In order to optimize your site for speed, try to follow these guidelines:

- Don't use too many animations on your homepage
- Try to use a uniform font for your site (1-3 fonts)
- If you decide to use an MP3 on your homepage, try to use a smaller file.
- If you use many shapes and components in the editor to create a larger image, it would be best to create a single image, with these elements, on your computer and then upload it to Wix.

If, after optimizing your site for speed, you continue to experience performance issues, we ask that you please load the site using www.webpagetest.org (an independent 3rd party site that will test the speed).

If you are not satisfied with the results received in the site test, and your is indeed loading slowly, please send us the link to the results, as well as your site URL. We will investigate the results and review your site. If there is indeed an issue on our end, we will do our best to investigate it and fix it ASAP. For further assistance, please post in this FAQ.

      Hi,

      Thank you for contacting us!

I have visited your site. Your home page has many heavy elements on it, making it a full and heavy page. It takes a while to load.

Please consider moving these elements to another page, for example the Blog feed or the slideshow, and creating a home page with fewer images and slideshows. This will allow you site to load much quicker.

You can also save your images in progressive .jpeg format. If you are using Gimp to improve your image quality, you will be able to make these changes in the Advanced Options section.

A great way to increase site performance is to optimize the images that you use. To find out more, please click here!

Don't hesitate to contact us again,

    Long load page time

    Dear Wix support team,

Could you please check www.Royals-Jewelry.com . It seems to me that it loads the HOME page very slowly. I also made webpagetest but I am not a professional and I could not understand where the problem comes from. Can you help me with that, please?

      Hi,

Thank you for contacting Wix support team.

I have ran another test on your site. You can view the results here.

It took your site under 7 seconds to load, which is good.
However, please note the D rank your site received for "Compress Images". At the moment it seems that the quality of your images may be the cause for slow loading times.

You can compress images in almost any photo program, such as Adobe Photoshop. Simply save as Internet web size. It is recommended to save your images at the size you want it them to be displayed.

In addition, make sure your image is in RGB color mode and not CMY. To check this in Adobe Photoshop: Click the image > click Image Mode.  This will ensure that your image is displayed in the best quality possible once uploaded to your Wix site.

For more information on improving image quality, please follow these guidelines .

Feel free to contact us should you need further

      Best regards, Boris

      Hello,

I have not been able to recreate the issue on my end. Your Wix domain is up and running:

If you are still having trouble viewing your site, please try doing the following:

      1) Go here and click on "Delete all sites". Then clear your browser's cache.

For step-by-step instructions about how to clear your browser's cache, please follow this link.
You can also find a video tutorial here.

      2) Try to Flush your DNS. For detailed instructions on how to do so please go here.

      3) Please go to the Windows start menu->click on 'run'-> select the first option: 'Run'-> type: 'ping yourdomain.com'->A window will pop with an IP address. Please run this test from several computers.

For Mac users: Go to ‘Application’ then open ‘Terminal’ and type: 'ping yourdomain.com'->A window will pop with an IP address. Please run this test from several computers.

-If you receive an IP address on your computer other than the IP you see here and you see this IP from other computers please contact an IT expert in your area for further troubleshooting.

-If you receive a different IP than the IP you see here from multiple locations, please send it to us in order for us to check it.

      Hi,

      Thanks for contacting Wix Support.

I have performed a neutral speed test on your site.

Your site is loading in 5.943s which is great!

Speed issues can be related to the test server itself, it's GEO location and more parameters such as ISP, traffic congestion etc.

My main site is slow in loading.  Not a major issue and I could live with it.  But the mobile site is incredibly slow.  Like 30 seconds to load.  It loads a 'non-optimized' version with everything out of line then spends another 20-30 seconds loading the optimized version.  The purchase page is incredibly slow as it has an App connected - so slow I am losing customers trying to load this page.  Can someone at Wix look into this?  I am considering leaving Wix as this is no good...

      Hi

As I mentioned the main site is not a major issue.

The mobile site takes 30 seconds to load the optimized view.  And while this is loading it shows a random non-optimized view so that people try to scroll but can't because the isn't loaded.  They also see text boxes all over the place.  Then the pricing page they see nothing for a full 15-20 seconds.

What is going on with this?  I've never seen another website ever before do this on my mobile...

Android phones and iPhones.  I tested both.

It's pretty clear this is not a phone issue, I've had my phone for years and this is literally the slowest loading website I've ever seen.   Feel free to test it yourself.  The site will appear to load except the boxes and text are all over the place then after you've been on the site for about 30 seconds it will flick into place with everything aligning to how it should be...

      Hi,

Please note that you are using a non-optimized mobile view.

The mobile site is in direct relation to the desktop site. Meaning that all the information, images, etc. come from the desktop site. Any change, in terms of optimization, you perform on the desktop site, will improve the mobile version.

I performed a speed test on your site. Note that your images are not compressed. Also, your site received a score of 'F' for progressive .jpegs.

To rectify this, you will need to save your images in progressive .jpeg format. You can use Gimp to improve your image quality, you will be able to make these changes in the Advanced Options section.

But the page has over 1 mb of loading to do before I even get anything on it.

So you are saying that a typical wix page would always have 2+ mb to load????

      Hello,

It is impossible to change the basic MB value of any Wix site.

Please note that once you position elements in your site in an economic way, the site will be loaded in no time.

For more information, please review the Best Reply herein above.

Once you start customizing your site and uploading content according to the instructions and to your taste, and still have issues, please let us know.

      Thank you in advance.

That is not the case as you well know. 6 seconds to load a static page with nothing on it then turns into 15+ by adding basic content as it will take it over 2mb. A few enhanced features then makes it 3mb. All support say is compress your images. That will save you a 2 seconds max.

Show me a wix page which is under 1mb and i'll eat my words but I've no choice but to leave Wix. I've spent over 20 hours developing the pages. My fault as I didn't realise Wix loads up before over 1mb of scripts before you even get going. I should also of paid more attention to the endless negative comments about Wix page speed on Google.

See previous posts. I did ask for support on http://partsgateway.wix.com/almscliffe and was told to compress by images so I removed them all and the file size and load time was massive.

You say you cannot refer to data extracted from external resources yet your support system is asking people to use such sites.

      Waste of my time.
