Site performance is very important to us at Wix! We have recently made many changes that should improve the performance and loading time of your site.

If you are still experiencing performance issues on your site, it may be because of one of the following factors:

- The speed of your own connection or an overload at your ISP during peak hours
- The amount of content on your site or home page
-  A large number of animations and/or animated behaviors/effects on your site
- Very large MP3 files which load on your home page
- A slower computer (i.e. with a slow processor or low RAM) which may load the site slowly, as it cannot process the information quickly enough.

In order to optimize your site for speed, try to follow these guidelines:

- Don't use too many animations on your homepage
- Try to use a uniform font for your site (1-3 fonts)
- If you decide to use an MP3 on your homepage, try to use a smaller file.
- If you use many shapes and components in the editor to create a larger image, it would be best to create a single image, with these elements, on your computer and then upload it to Wix.

If, after optimizing your site for speed, you continue to experience performance issues, we ask that you please load the site using www.webpagetest.org (an independent 3rd party site that will test the speed).

If you are not satisfied with the results received in the site test, and your is indeed loading slowly, please send us the link to the results, as well as your site URL. We will investigate the results and review your site. If there is indeed an issue on our end, we will do our best to investigate it and fix it ASAP. For further assistance, please post in this FAQ.

    Hi there,

My site (http://www.fakedice.com/) seems quite slow and was wondering if there's anyway we can make it load faster?  The size of the images on the site aren't that big but some how it takes long time to load.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could take a look at it and recommend any way to make it faster.

    Hi There

My client is not happy with the load time of the site, 30 seconds. I have included my test but I need instructions please. Must I compress the images? And if so how?

Quick question - facebook.com is showing in my site report (has the biggest load time too!) but I have deleted both social icons from my site and it is still showing up in the site speed test report. Any ideas?

    My site is www.rogershistory.com

      Thanks for contacting Wix Support.

I have performed a test on your site. And the site is loading in 6.170s which is great!

Please clarify, where do you see facebook on the site report?

If you go to "domains" in the report - it is listed there. Also, on the "waterfall" second to bottom.

There are also a few other bits from the report:

      1. First Byte Time is low. Is there anything I can do about that?

      2. I have a number of videos on different pages. Would creating more pages but having less videos per page help with this? Ideally I want to get my site into the 2-3 second range and at the mo it is around 6. I have seen other WIX sites where this is possible. Apart from reducing video content, anything else I can do?

      3. WIll a landing page help in any way?

I have viewed the waterfall - it seems that it is fine and there are no extraordinary inputs that can be seen there.

      1. First byte time refers to communications of servers, and is dependent on the geographic location and ISP. Unfortunately there is no option of changing this.

      2. These videos will have no affect on the initial loading time if they are not part of the homepage. The first load of the site will not really be affected by this.

      3. Yes a landing page will help load the site faster. Please see this thread for more information about landing pages.

I may sound stupid here, but can you explain why creating the landing page will potentially speed up the load time? Does the server load the homepage first?

I assume you are referring to loading time issues with your own site - www.uphairsalon.com .

I have ran a test on your site. You can review the results here.

I have also merged your ticket with the relevant thread. Please keep in mind that there are various reasons for loading time issues. Make sure to follow the guidelines in the best reply post above, and let us know what you have tried and if the issue persists.

Feel free to contact us should you need further assistance.

      Thank you for contacting us!

I have visited your site. Your home page has many heavy elements on it, making it a full and heavy page. It takes a while to load.

Please consider moving these elements to another page, for example the Blog feed or the slideshow, and creating a home page with fewer images and slideshows. This will allow you site to load much quicker.

You can also save your images in progressive .jpeg format. If you are using Gimp to improve your image quality, you will be able to make these changes in the Advanced Options section.

A great way to increase site performance is to optimize the images that you use. To find out more, please click here!

Thank you for contacting Wix support team.
I have ran a test on your site. You can view the results here.

It took your site under 7 seconds to load, which is good.
However, please note the D rank your site received for "Compress Images". At the moment it seems that the quality of your images may be the cause for slow loading times.
You can compress images in almost any photo program, such as Adobe Photoshop. Simply save as Internet web size. It is recommended to save your images at the size you want it them to be displayed.
In addition, make sure your image is in RGB color mode and not CMY. To check this in Adobe Photoshop: Click the image > click Image Mode.  This will ensure that your image is displayed in the best quality possible once uploaded to your Wix site.
For more information on improving image quality, please follow these guidelines .
Feel free to contact us should you need further

I have not been able to recreate the issue on my end. Your Wix domain is up and running:

If you are still having trouble viewing your site, please try doing the following:

      1) Go here and click on "Delete all sites". Then clear your browser's cache.

For step-by-step instructions about how to clear your browser's cache, please follow this link.
You can also find a video tutorial here.

      2) Try to Flush your DNS. For detailed instructions on how to do so please go here.

      3) Please go to the Windows start menu->click on 'run'-> select the first option: 'Run'-> type: 'ping yourdomain.com'->A window will pop with an IP address. Please run this test from several computers.

For Mac users: Go to ‘Application’ then open ‘Terminal’ and type: 'ping yourdomain.com'->A window will pop with an IP address. Please run this test from several computers.

-If you receive an IP address on your computer other than the IP you see here and you see this IP from other computers please contact an IT expert in your area for further troubleshooting.

-If you receive a different IP than the IP you see here from multiple locations, please send it to us in order for us to check it.

Thanks for the quick response! The only thing I can think of is putting the image gallery (linked to Facebook) on a separate tab so I'll give that a shot.
