Meta Tags are important as they provide information about your site to search engine crawlers. Remember to update your Meta Tags both for your site and your individual pages:

To update Site Meta Tags: From the left side of the Editor, click the Settings icon > click SEO (Google) > fill in your Meta Tags under Site Title, Site Description and Keywords > click Done.

Note: Make sure that the Allow search engines to find my site option is switched on (green).

To update Page Meta Tags: From the left side of the Editor, click the Pages icon > next to the relevant page, click the Settings wheel > in the Settings and SEO window, fill in your Meta Tags under Page Title, Page Description and Keywords > click Done.

Please note the SEO Monitoring Tool analyzes your site according to the exact search phrases you enter into its initial screen. In this case, the search phrases you inputted do not exist in your home page title or description meta tags. If you would like these phrases to be included in your home page title and description meta tags, please make sure to incorporate them in your title and description organically (instead of simply listing them).

Have a question with respect to the SEO Page settings. I watched your brief video which suggested that I add the same information to the PAGE SEO SETINGS that I will later add to the site (Google SEO) optimization.

I find this confusing as to me the PAGE SEO features my products and it would seem to make more sense adding the Page Title as the Page Title and not include the "company name, location and general line comments" that will later be included in the Google SEO. Am I correct in assuming that I only want to add the PAGE TITLE  and not site wide info?

Similarly the Description on the PAGE SEO would seem to contain info. about specific products on that PAGE and not site wide info.. Am I correct?

Last, I assume that the keywords I am to add on the PAGE SEO are Page oriented keywords? Not site wide general keywords?

I appreciate a response when you have an opportunity.

    Best,

    Mark

      Hey Mark,

Meta Tags are text elements that are not visible to your website’s visitors but provide important information to search engine crawlers e.g. Google.

Make sure your Page Title is easy to read and attractive - A relevant and descriptive Title is more likely to attract users to 'click' in Search Engine results.

Try incorporating your most relevant search phrase in your Page Title i.e. the word you think a client would type into a Search Engine search to find your website.

Your Description is an opportunity to advertise your website. It allows a user to know what your website is about in relation to what they are looking for. The content of your Description must be relevant to your page.

The keyword meta tag fields, which can be entered in the site and page settings sections, are not considered by Google and other major search engines. As such, these tags do not affect the way your site is indexed and ranked. Instead, search engines assign value to the content added to your site pages.

To learn more about Google's assessment of keyword meta tags, click here.

Despite their lack of importance for major search engines, if you are working with a service or a company that utilizes these keywords you are welcome to use them.

You can add up to 15 keyword tags for your Wix site. Each keyword can be 1-4 words long.

Your Title and Description meta tags are considered by search engines. Please make sure to fill them in by following the instructions here. This means that if you have filled in your home page meta data, it will be displayed in Google search results. Remember, if it is deemed weak or incomplete, Google will choose the next most relevant content on the page to display, so make sure to fill these out fully.

Please let us know should you require any further assistance.

Hmm...I seem to be having the same/similar issue when trying to verify my site through META Tag application via Google's provided tag. This is my tag

    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="WVGmdqj-Lo7FhVWT-yePiIYxyd0qCFMW4vx3W_bccSo" />

But the "apply" button through Wix Advanced SEO tool does not highlight. I tried the suggestions I found here (very helpful, just didn't work for me) but...to no result.

I am also getting a "505 / internal server error" message when I try to add the site to my Google list of sites. I've verified other sites and never had an issue so I am a bit confused. Please advise.

I ve just fix it myself, and could give a tips for people who had same error.

When you insert your meta tag you should activate bottom APPLY by pushing Enter

And after  you should get the cursor back, retuning it UP to the end of the sentence line, otherwise you ll get this error , because cursor got position under the meta tag line.

Hope you ll understand what I mean ))))

      Thanks!

Please note that your site title will be displayed in your browser bar while your site is loading. Once your site has loaded, the home page title will be displayed. If the site title is blank, then the original site name will be displayed.

Please make sure to fill in your site and page meta data (title and description). If you do not want there to be any change in the browser bar when your site is loading, simply make the site title and home page title identical.

      Hi,

Please provide us with the Google webmaster code and we can add the meta code for you.  Note that a code would look similar to this: I-H5tqzH-20I3tLewJvr4u_JIyWTiMGHNFlgQL5i23o

This is the correct format when plugging in the meta code.

      <meta name="google-site-verification" content="Code from Google Webmaster tools"/>

Note: When adding multiple verification meta tags, please make sure to add all tags at the same time. Simply add all of the tags consecutively, without separating them with spaces or commas. Please make sure each tag has open ('<') and close ('>') tags, and that they conform to the formats outlined previously.

For more information about meta tags please click here.

      Many thanks, Barrios

Please note I added the Google verification code for you, I saved the change but didn't publish.

Unfortuately we don't support adding scripts to the header at the moment, and therefore I was unable to add the Go Squared code.

    Hello,

Please be aware that your page meta data is given priority over your site meta data. This allows you to use a unique title and description for each page, relevant to that page's content.

This means that if you have filled in your home page meta data, it will be displayed in Google search results. Remember, if it is deemed weak or incomplete, Google will choose the next most relevant content on the page to display, so make sure to fill these out fully.

Your site meta data will be used when your page meta data is blank.

In addition, the SEO Monitoring Tool generates a 'Home Page Report', meaning that your home page meta data is analyzed.

Be sure to update your home page meta data (as well as the meta data of other pages). To add/modify meta data for your site or pages please click here.

Remember, whenever you make changes to your website, these changes need to be crawled again by search engines, such as Google, before they appear in search results.

It can take anywhere from 1 to 3 months for Google to update its database. To speed the process you can re-submit, if you haven’t already, your website directly to Google through http://www.google.com/addurl

I  hope this helps! Please let us know if we can assist you further.

    Sincerely, Leah Wix Support
