In order for search engines to be able to "read" your images, you will need to fill in the Alt Text. This can be done for both gallery images and stand-alone images.

Note: You should only fill in the Alt Text for images that add value or give information to your visitors. Decorative images which are not relevant to your site's content do not need this text.

To add Alt Text to gallery images: Click the gallery to select it > from the pop-up menu, click Organize Images > under Title, enter a title for your image.

The title will be used as the Alt Text for your image. You can also give more information about your image under Description.

To add Alt Text to a stand-alone image: Click the image to select it > from the pop-up menu, click Settings > under Alt Text, enter the Alt Text.

it says under "SEO how-to" that descriptions under "alt. text" will not post as a descriptions but only be seen in search engines...I read above and saw that you said that "title" acts as the "alt text" instead. My question is that I want to link my site for SEO purposes only....I don't want to have any descriptions under my images. Is there a way to not allow a description to show on my images....only for search engines??

      Hi asebek1,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this matter.

Please note that, currently, it is only possible to hide the title and description for specific Gallery types. You can do so with the Masonry, Thumbnail or Strip Slideshow Galleries, by selecting 'No text' in the Text Display drop down menu in the Gallery settings.

Make sure to select 'Do nothing' in the 'When clicking on image' drop down menu to prevent text from appearing in expand mode.

For more information about Galleries click here.

We are here should you have any further questions.

Per the Wix SEO Wizard, I'm trying to add  "Alt Text" to the images on my client's home page (she uses the) "Masonry Gallery", and I'm not seeing anywhere that Alt Text can be added to any of the images in that home page gallery?

      Hi,

I've merged your ticket with the relevant thread. Please note: the text in the 'title' field of your Gallery Images will function as the alt text.

is there an optimum px for the images that should appear on facebook & tumbler from the SEO Social Thumbnail? I would like a size please, not an explanation or excuse, but an actual size. Thank you.

Why does the the social thumbnail show that it's constantly uploading, the dots are never stable, always rotating. It's gives some impression that it's never going to upload properly but if we had the right size maybe this will lessen the frustration. Thank you

your automated responses are half-rank murmur; just take a moment to give it some thought.

      Hey,

Note that according to Facebook's specification, the minimum dimensions for Thumbnail images are 200px*200px, and the maximum dimensions are 1500px*1500px. We recommend that you use smaller dimensions and that you don't exceed 1000px*1000px.

As for the constant loading of the thumbnail, please note that even if you see a loading circle inside the editor, the thumbnail is actually updated after you've published your site. For more information please click here

      Thanks,

    Google image search

My WIX site image search leads to pages like:

    http://www.galitgolany.com/?_escaped_fragment_=copy-of-copy-of-gallery-03/cct3

What can be done to make sure they leads to actual webpage?

    Additional question:

What can be done to improve google search to avoid separate pages, and improve structured appearance?

    Thanks in advance,

I am having HUGE issues with this.  I have done EVERYTHING.  Named pics, descriptions, alt text, etc.. SUPER OPTIMIZED EVERYTHING!

I have THREE paid sites with Wix, 2 have been up for at least 4 - 6 months.  Not ONE single image comes up in google image search results - NOT ONE!  I am fairly savvy.  I don't get it...

Please note that while your sites have been crawled and indexed by Google, having your images appear in Google Images search results is a separate process, and may take longer.

Please make sure that your images are properly optimized, in accordance with the guidelines posted in this thread. Please also make sure to read our SEO Learning Center pages, and ensure that your site follows all of the listed guidelines. If your site content is not properly optimized, this could negatively impact the chances of your images attaining a good ranking in Google Images search results.

With the Wix SEO Monitoring Tool you will receive a Step by step guide to improve your site's SEO.

In addition, you can also target what your customers are searching for and it will help your site to get found on Google.

Additionally, you can use the following links to submit your site to:

      - Google

Ben - this issue is on YOUR end.  When you check the source of my images - it is a wix url - it should be mine.  I spoke to Google about this at length.  this is your issue on how you host the images.  What is the solution, or how do I take my site to another host?

      Hey,

As mentioned here, I have forwarded your case to the relevant team, and they are looking into this issue. Please refrain from posting more than thread regarding the same issue since this may cause confusion on our end and make it more difficult for us to gather all the information regarding your case.

Thank you for your patience. We will contact you once we have more information.

We have checked all the necessary coding from our side and we can see that everything is in order.

We have also seen that the last time Google crawled your site was 12/11/2013, which is great.

Please note that while your site may have been crawled and indexed, having your images appear in Google Images takes longer. Please make sure that you have properly optimized your Images.

You may also consider using Google Webmaster Tools to help you in the optimization process.

but there is no <head> or<body> showing in  the box.

      am new to all this.

      any help would be grateful.
