Have you searched for the correct domain?

Make sure that you have entered the correct domain into the search engine.

Have you selected to allow search engines to crawl your site?

Make sure that your site is published and that the Allow search engines to find my site toggle in the Settings > SEO (Google) section is enabled.  If this setting is turned off (red), then your site will not be available for search engines to crawl.

Has your site been indexed yet?

Be aware that it can take anywhere from 1 – 3 months for your site to be crawled and indexed in order to appear in search engines such as Google or Yahoo. This waiting period is the same for all websites, not just those created using Wix.

To see if Google has indexed your site, as well as the last time this occurred i.e. to see a cached version of your site, enter your site’s URL with the word cache: before it in the Google search. For example: cache:www.mydomain.com If your site comes up, this means Google has already indexed it.

Remember, if your site has not been crawled and it has been less than 3 months since publishing, don’t worry – give it a little time and try again.

Alternatively, you can help speed up this process by submitting your website to search engines directly.

If your site is indexed, but doesn’t appear for certain keyword searches?

Once you have established that your site has been crawled and indexed, getting the search results you want is the next big step and something that takes time and consistent effort – even for the most experienced SEO experts.

Remember, the more websites Google has on a certain subject, the more competition there will be to get a higher rank. We have a lot of SEO information available for you to read here and more suggested reading within our blog here.

We also suggest that you use the Wix SEO Monitoring Tool.

If your site used to appear in search engines, but no longer seems to be indexed?

This could be for a myriad of reasons e.g. black hat SEO.

There are certain techniques that Google will penalize you for using.

    Hi,

I was able to get Google index my website immediately by following their directions. Now I am trying the same for Yahoo, I am using Wix to host my website and Goddady is my domain name server registrar. Yahoo tells me to add CNAME in Godaddy. Will I need to add a CNAME record in Godday or wix to index my website in Yahoo?

      Hi,

Wix guarantees that your site will be crawled by search engines. It can take between 1 to 3 months for your site to appear in search engine results.

In order for your site to be visible to search engines, make sure that it is published and that the Allow search engines to find my site toggle in the Settings > SEO (Google) section is enabled (green).

Note: Your site being visible to search engines does not guarantee higher ranking in search results. In order to improve your ranking, we encourage you to follow the basic initial steps listed below.

      1) Please adhere to the content guidelines outlined here. Additionally, when adding content to your Wix site, please be sure to incorporate your keywords organically throughout the content, rather than simply listing them.

      2) Please make sure to fill in Title and Description meta tags for each page, as this information displayed in Google search results. For information about adding Meta Tags to your site and pages please click here .

      3) Make sure to add Alt Text to your images, in order to improve their visibility for search engines. For more information about optimizing your images, click here.

      4) Link your Wix site to your social pages. For more information, click here.

      5) Set header tags in your site content, in order to identify important content for search engines. For more information, click here.

I clearly cannot get the Description portion of the SEO Wizard correct. I have tried every description I can think of and it still says it is too short. Just don't get it. Sorry. I need more help with this.

Well, it's been several months and I still cannot find it on a google search. I have read and read your instructions, but I simply do not understand them. Hi deannaroberts1,

Thank you for contacting us and I'm deeply sorry for the inconvenience.

I can see from our records that you published your Wix website on 5/31/14.

Please be aware that it can take from 1 to 3 months for Google to update its database and for your site to be indexed (from the moment you have published your site). Finding your site using your relevant keywords may take even more time.

One way to speed up this process is to submit your website directly to search engines.

You can submit your website directly to Google here.
You can submit your website directly to Bing here.

Wix guarantees that all of the text and meta tags on your site are being scanned by search engines, however we cannot guarantee that Google will choose to assign your website a high rank, this part is up to you.

Make sure that your websites content has been optimized in accordance with the advice offered in our SEO Learning Center. We also recommend that you use the SEO Wizard & Monitoring tool for a more in depth analysis of your site’s SEO.

Please don't hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

    Hi, I have a question.

I just checked that my website has been indexed with the "cache:" command in front of my URL.

So it is indexed, but how do I know if it has been crawled? And what is the typical wait for this scenario, for it to turn up in google's search results?

    Thx

      Hi christianlindhardt,

Thank you for contacting Wix support!

If your site's content appear when you use the 'cache:' command it means that it was crawled (it's a synonym for 'indexed').
It can take between 1 to 3 months for your site to appear in search engine results.

Note: Your site being visible to search engines does not guarantee higher ranking in search results. In order to improve your ranking, we encourage you to follow the basic initial steps listed here.

      Hello,

I'd recommend using Google+ for businesses and Google Webmaster Tools to ensure that the site is ranked. Furthermore, please be sure to enter the page meta data (Pages -> page name -> Page Settings -> Page Title and Description) as this is quite important.

Please let us know if the error continues after this step.

      Sincerely, Leah Wix Team

    Hi ya,

I have just upgraded my site and purchased a monthly plan, that being the case that my site will not be available for viewing until three months, that means I will not be able to get any trade? plus I've tried to access and advertise on Facebook but keep getting that I need permission to do so, how can I resolve these issues?. I've used Wix before to some years ago and things where allot easier and straight forward, build your site and then publish, but this is hard work and frustrating plus I've paid now.

      Hi Foster,

Sorry to hear about your frustration.

The fact that search engines haven't indexed your site yet doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to get good traffic to your site until your site is indexed. You can use social networks and the vouchers you've received to stand out and make a name for your business right off the bat.

Regarding the issue with Facebook - errors related to Facebook ads manager should be sent to Facebook. Please contact them for help on this matter.

Please let us know should you require further assistance from our end.

All the best, Or - Wix support team.
