It usually takes around 1-3 months for your site to appear in search engine results.
Please note that this waiting period is the same for all websites (not just in Wix).

I'm trying to search my new website on Google but it looks like Google doesn't  see it.
    do you know why?

Thank you for contacting the Wix support team.

I can see from our records that you first published your Wix website on 7/6/14 3:47 PM

Please be aware that it can take from 1 to 3 months for Google to update its database and for your site to be indexed. Finding your site using your relevant keywords may take even more time.

One way to speed up this process is to submit your website directly to search engines.

You can submit your website directly to Google here.
You can submit your website directly to Bing here.

Wix guarantees that all of the text and meta tags on your site are being scanned by search engines, however we cannot guarantee that Google will choose to assign your website a high rank, this part is up to you.

Make sure that your websites content has been optimized in accordance with the advice offered in our SEO Learning Center. We also recommend that you use the SEO Wizard & Monitoring tool for a more in depth analysis of your site’s SEO.

We are here should you have any further questions!

      Many thanks, Barrios

How do I find my site?

How do I make my site appear on a google search if I have run the SEO wizard and my key phrase is in all the required fields? Is this even possible for any free users?... The only way I can view my site is if I type in the exact URL, is this the best I can hope for?

My Site (http://pauldeweybloodstock.wix.com/pauldeweybloodstock) was first published on 9th March and it's now 11th June but it's still not showing on any of the search engines. I have gone through all the SEO's and everything looks ok. I am likely to update my website on a regular basis but does this mean I have to wait 3 months+ after every update for my website to appear in the search engine?  I tried the "Cache" search as well and there was no recognition of my site at all. I'm more than a bit confused!

      Hi Paul,

I checked you site and there are couple of things you can do:

      1. Your site doesn't have an H1 heading.

The H1 or heading tag is quite literally the heading of your website, much like the heading of a newspaper article.

When someone enters your website, they will naturally notice the heading before reading the content on the page. Search engine crawlers function the same way. When a search engine crawls a website, its first action is to attempt to understand what the page is about. It does this by first reading the heading tags.

In order to ensure that the text you’ve added is set as the H1 tag, it must be set to the ‘Title’ style.

The following is a guide to help you manage the header tags  for your HTML website:

Title - H1 - (only the most top left is H1 - second (etc) title will be H2)

      Page Title- H2

      Heading XL - H3

      Heading L - H4

      Heading M - H5

      Heading S - H6

The rest of the styles are mapped to paragraph tag.

Here are some tips about H1 headers:

      - A proper HTML page allows only one H1 tag. If you place an H1 tag in your header or footer or if you marked it to be displayed on all pages, then you shouldn't add anymore H1 tags on the rest of your site.

      - If you didn’t check the "show on all pages" option on your H1 text, you can add one line of text (in a paragraph or title) that has an H1 style per page.

      - The H1 text should be a single line. If you break lines, the H1 tag will be added only to the top line. If you would like the H1 tag to spread over more than one line simply click on shift + enter instead of only enter.

      - If any of your pages has more than one line of text with "title" style then Wix will mark the top left title as H1 and the rest will be H2.

      2. You can submit your site manually to search engines:

You can submit your website directly to Google here.
You can submit your website directly to Bing here.

Wix guarantees that all of the text and meta tags on your site are being scanned by search engines, however we cannot guarantee that Google will choose to assign your website a high rank, this part is up to you.

      3. Please note that the keyword meta tag is not considered by Google or other search engines. It should be used primarily as an organizational tool, so you can decide on keywords for your site. The keywords that search engines consider are those that are placed in your site content.

Please be sure to achieve the recommended keyword density for the keywords you choose.

With the Wix SEO Monitoring Tool you will receive a step-by-step guide to improve your site's SEO.

      4. One of the best ways to improve your site’s visibility is to connect a domain to it. To connect a domain to your site please click here.

Ok, thats all very well and good but how do I create a "Title"? I seem to have a couple of  headers at the top of my Home Page which looks fine but when I try to alter the Header to a "Title" it doesnt want to play ball.

Also, i have checked my Cache now via Google and and the description of my website is "I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. I'm a great place for you to tell a story and let your users know a little more about you." How do i alter this please? When I tried the SEO Wizard it just goes round in an infuriating loop and is not at all helpful!

      Hi pauldeweybloodstock ,

You can click here for more information on how to add an H1.

Also, if you recently updated your Site description, Google needs to re-crawl your site and update its database. This process can take anywhere up to 1-3 months.

      Hi Katie,

I have amended my "header" dragged it down and replaced it with an "H1" title exactly as suggested in the forum (actually done it 4 times now). But when i check under the Page Source it still says that do not have an "H1", can you check again please?

Please note that you have set the title to 'Page Title' (H2) instead of H1 as you can see in the screenshot below:

Please update the title's style, publish your site and let us know if the issue persists.

I'm sorry this is ridiculous. I should be able to simply email someone especially when paying for service. I can see having to post in a forum when using free service. Anyway, I've used the SEO Monitoring Tool. Still no sign of my site in Google. Don't just send me a generic reply please. I need specific support and expect to communicate with someone directly. Thank you

Hello, I understand that it takes google around 1-3 months to crawl through websites and all that stuff, but what I have a problem with is that my website's description and title hasn't updated (when searching for it on google). I was under the impression that once you click publish, it would update, however it seems that it hasn't updated. Is there a set period of time that needs to pass before it updates?

    • Leah Wix Team

Replied by Leah April 27, 2014

The meta data will be updated the next time the site is crawled.

Please be aware that your page meta data is given priority over your site meta data. This allows you to use a unique title and description for each page, relevant to that page's content.

This means that if you have filled in your home page meta data, it will be displayed in Google search results. Remember, if it is deemed weak or incomplete, Google will choose the next most relevant content on the page to display, so make sure to fill these out fully.

Your site meta data will be used when your page meta data is blank.

In addition, the SEO Monitoring Tool generates a 'Home Page Report', meaning that your home page meta data is analyzed.

Be sure to update your home page meta data (as well as the meta data of other pages). To add/modify meta data for your site or pages please click here.

Remember, whenever you make changes to your website, these changes need to be crawled again by search engines, such as Google, before they appear in search results.

It can take anywhere from 1 to 3 months for Google to update its database. To speed the process you can re-submit, if you haven’t already, your website directly to Google through http://www.google.com/addurl

      Sincerely, Leah Wix Team

      Hey myte838,

In regards to the contact form BCC question: please note that BCC stands for blind carbon copy. This essentially means that the email address added to this field will receive a copy of the email sent to you through the contact form without the BCC'd email address showing up in the recipients list of your mail.

In regards to your SEO question, it seems to us like you have filled out everything needed for a good SEO. Still, we highly encourage you to use our SEO Monitoring Tool to analyze your site. Also, please take into consideration the best reply of the thread that suggests that it can take between 1-3 months for your site to be found in search engines.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know!

      Thank you,

      Eyal, Wix Customer Support Team
