Hello!

You can edit your Wix template (document) at any time. You can then either apply the changes (SAVE) to the premium document or save the changes as a new document (SAVE AS).

If you do a SAVE AS, you can transfer the premium status to that new document by logging into your account at wix.com, clicking MY ACCOUNT, and clicking the purple MANAGE PREMIUM button. From there you can transfer premium upgrade from one document to another.

Good luck!

Talk about a merry go around. Reading these answers, I'm immediately annoyed at the lack of attentive, solution-oriented replies. There must be a way to either apply the layout features of a new template to an existing website or to merge existing content from a website with a new template. And, if there isn't, why? Even WordPress can handle such a thing - shoot, it shouldn't be any more difficult than changing a template in something as simple as PowerPoint!

Would someone please get on the ball and figure this out? A work-around at minimum would be extremely helpful to all of us as our websites tend to evolve as they are built.

      Hi,

Unfortunately, this is impossible to do at the moment.

Please note that the information you're reading below appears in a Flash thread while the two sites in your account were created using our HTML5 editor. In the future, make sure that the information and replies you find are for the relevant platform you've chosen to work with.

Let us knwo should you require further assistance.

Thank you for the reply, Ron. Please don't presume that you know what I am trying to do - I'm actually on the correct thread because I am wanting to change templates from HTML5 to Flash without having to go through the tedium and time-consuming coping of all of my pages and text individually.

I was extremely surprised to find that this wasn't obviously possible - I've built numerous sites using many other platforms and changing templates is always just a given. I chose WIX for this one (and was actually going to start using it across the board) because I love the ease and simplicity of building on it. (I just love the editing features!) I rarely end with the same template I started with because, as now, I get a new idea for the appearance just when I'm nearly finished.

I'd almost bet there is a simple work-around solution for making this possible - I'll probably find it elsewhere on the internet. In the meantime, I'd encourage your tech team to look into this further. (I'm sure they changed the template/theme of the WIX site numerous times before it was published.)

      Hey,

Unfortunately, the platform or the template of a Wix site cannot be changed. However, a different Wix site can be connected to a domain - please let us know if this is what you'd like to do.

      Sincerely, Leah Wix Team

Thank you, Leah - I just figured out a very simple thing to do. Since I haven't yet upgraded to premium, I'll just finish creating my website over here and then transfer it into a flash template elsewhere. There's always a way!

Hello, is it possible to change templates to an already published site? I do not want to change the domain. I just want to change the template to give my website a new/updated look. My payment is valid until next year and already spent money for SEO so I want to keep these things I just want a new look.. I saw some really cool new templates and I want to use it instead of the template I am currently using.

      Hi,

It is not possible to change a site's template.

You'll need to create a new site using the template you desire.

You can change your site's background and edit its structure if you only wish to update your site's look.

If you require any further assistance, feel free to contact us again.

    Dear Wixology,

Could you answer the questions posed by KDNProduction?

"But, is it possible to change the template to an already created and publish website for premium customers. I have a website up and running and I am trying to give it an updated look. I want to keep all of my content, I just want to change the look. I don't want to go through hassle of starting from scratch!"

I also have a website that I do not want to change the look of without starting from scratch. Can you change the template on an already created and published website for premium customers?

    THank you.

I am afraid that it is not possible to change your template, whether you are a premium or free user.

    Hi R03Pinkley,

Yes this is possible! If you only have one Premium package, to reassign a domain, you will first have to transfer the Premium package to your new site.

    Then, please follow these steps:

    1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, click a domain.
    2. Under Domain Summary, next to Wix Site, click Change.
    3. Under Connect Your Wix Site, choose a Wix document to connect your domain to.
    4. Click Save, then click Done.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

It is not possible to switch templates inside a document or combine Wix templates, you are only able to edit one at a time. If you wish to choose a different template, simply create a new document.

By the way, it's a good idea to save a backup copy of your WIx document from time to time.

To save a backup, just open the original, go to FILE > SAVE AS, and give the backup document a new name.

    Good luck!

    Good luck!
