To add Tax Rules: Click your Product Gallery to select it > from the pop-up menu, click Manage Store > click the Tax tab.

Click Add Tax Rule > under Destination, enter the country that the rule applies to > under Tax Rate Percentage, enter the Tax Rate.

Repeat this process to add Tax Rules for different countries.

Note: You can also include tax in your product price. To do so: Under Include Tax in Product Price, check the box next to Product price already includes tax.

Note: If you have set up shipping and tax options on your merchant account, you will need to remove these settings before using the Store Manager shipping and tax settings.

Hello! I have a question about tax. I thought I had it set up right to charge tax...but its still not charging for tax. I have the box unchecked. The only thing I can think of is we don't ship our products. Is there anything I'm missing?

    Thank you!

      Hello 2ndhandsunshine,

I've checked your site and I was unable to recreate the issue - after adding a product to the cart, I've selected a state and the tax was properly added as you can see below. Are you still experiencing this issue?

Please let us know whether the issue persists.

Thank you for contacting Wix! We await your reply.

I need to deduct 21% tax on orders that are from countries outside EU. Is there an option for this?

    • Alina Wix Team

Replied by Alina July 13, 2014

      Hey,

You can choose the specific countries under 'destination' and set a different tax rule for each group (like you have done).

Please let us know should you require any further assistance.

      Thanks,

Yes, I have done so, but products selected by countries outside EU will still have the normal price instead of -21% deduction. EU countries will just have the 21% VAT mentioned.

      What can I do?

      Hey,

You can uncheck the 'include tax in your product price' option.

To do so: Under Include Tax in Product Price, uncheck the box next to Product price already includes tax.

Please let us know should you require any further assistance.

yes, but then I have to put in all the prices without VAT. This doesn't work well for my EU customers. All prices must be listed with VAT included, but for outside EU customers there has to be a VAT deduction of 21%.

      example:

      EU customer

      product €182,- (includes VAT)

      NON-EU customer

      same product €182,-

      - 21% VAT  -€ 31,59

    HI

The e-commerce site will calculate tax on the product being purchased at check out and that is fine but what I need it to do is calculate the tax on the shipping cost as well on check out so the customer knows how much tax they are paying so they can get  this back if needed from the tax man.

    Cost of product

    Cost of shipping

Total cost of tax on product and shipping =

Total cost of product and shipping + total tax on product and shipping = total to pay

      Hi,

I'm afraid this is currently not possible via the Wix online store.

Please add this feature request here - in the related wishlist thread to the online store requests.

To read about our feature updates, please click here.

Please note that you can try to set up an additional charge for the added taxes for shipping by adjusting the shipping weight rules (i.e set to add an extra charge for the shipping to cover the added tax charge you wish to incorporate).

To add weight based postage simply open your editor -> click on your product inside the online store -> scroll down to "Optional Details" and add Weight.

Enter a value in Weight to send the information to your merchant account. If you have defined weight-based rules in your merchant account, they will display the shipping charge.

You can find more information here.

Have you any idea when this is going to be available, as it is a legal requirement in the UK.  Wix seem to be happy to take our money but do not seem to want to get issues resolved, so at the moment Wix are supplying a product which is not fit for purpose.

      What is happening about it?

      From UK HMRC -

What a VAT invoice must show

      A VAT invoice must show:

an invoice number which is unique and follows on from the number of the previous invoice - if you spoil or cancel a serially numbered invoice, you must keep it to show to a VAT officer at your next VAT inspection
the seller's name or trading name, and address
      the seller's VAT registration number
      the invoice date
the time of supply (also known as tax point) if this is different from the invoice date - see below
the customer's name or trading name, and address
a description sufficient to identify the goods or services supplied to the customer
the rate of any cash discount
the total amount of VAT charged expressed in sterling

For each different type of item listed on the invoice, you must show:

the unit price or rate, excluding VAT
the quantity of goods or the extent of the services
the rate of VAT that applies to what's being sold
the total amount payable, excluding VAT

If you issue a VAT invoice that includes zero-rated or exempt goods or services, you must:

show clearly that there is no VAT payable on those goods or services
show the total of those values separately

Our website is finished and ready to go live but there is a fault on the VAT calculation when checking out. Its a UK website and the VAT must be calculated on both goods and the carriage/post. Its is not adding VAT to the carriage! This a major problem preventing us from launching the site.

We are desperate for Wix to sort this out on jwsweights.co.uk ASAP! We have scoured the site to see how to fix it but it cannot be done.

    HELP!

Please follow the instructions in the best reply above.

You can set tax rules by a price range, however not per product.

I am only required to charge sales tax to buyer in my own state and from there on they are supposed to be charge based off where the buyer lives. This is not doable for WIX. IS there any way WIX can set sales tax on a zipcode basis. I feel like the website should be up to date with the tax laws and have its sales tax options based off that.

      Hey,

Unfortunately, it is currently impossible to charge sales tax based on zipcodes at the moment.

You may be able to add this via your merchant account instead of your store, but you will need to check this with your specific merchant account.

      Thank you for your understanding.

Why is there no option to specify tax rules for specific states and ZIP codes? I am only required to charge sales tax to buyers in my own state, and there is a statewide tax but certain ZIP codes have an additional tax surcharge. I can only set one tax rate for all of the U.S., which is super limiting. I was really digging Wix as I was playing with everything, but this limitation has kind of fizzled the deal for me. I won't be able to use Wix if there isn't any way to set sales tax on a ZIP by ZIP basis.

Estimate Shipping and Tax in Paypal order summary

Hi, I set shipping options in my Wix website but when the checkout process is switched to PayPal, there is a box in the Order Summary that calculates shipping. If the buyer enters information, they are charged for shipping again.  I must not be the only person with this problem - how do others solve the problem?

If you have also added the tax details in your PayPal account, please make sure to remove the setting from it.

      Thanks,
