You can use Authorize.net or PayPal to accept direct credit card payments!

1. Authorize.netAccepts all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express in your Wix Store.

2. Paypal.com: You can set up your shopping cart to accept direct credit cards payments from users without prompting them to sign into their PayPal account. The user would still be directed to a PayPal page, however, they would not be prompted to sign in.

Note: The ability to allow customers to pay via PayPal through Guest Checkout is determined by your local PayPal organization. For some countries, the customer will be required to create a PayPal account before they will be able to pay. For more information, click here.

To set up your Online Store payment options: Click your Product Gallery to select it > from the pop-up menu, click Manage Store > select the Payment & Currency tab.

Under Payment Method, click the drop down menu to select a method > enter the required information > click Save.

Note: Make sure that the Paypal Account Optional feature is turned on in your Paypal account. To learn more, please click here or contact Paypal directly.

Note: In order to use PayPal as the merchant account for your online store, you will need to have a Business or Premier PayPal account.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to add more than one merchant account.

We document and learn from every feature request and bug brought to our attention. These objectives are immediately high priority milestones in Wix's product road map.

      Hi,

Well this is a difficult question, as it depends on what is more conman in your area.

If your customers are more familiar with Paypal then it is better you choose Paypal and vise versa.

After the frustration caused to me and many others because of very inadequate answers by Wix support people, I researched competitors' instructions on how to set up PayPal for credit or debit card payments without the need to log into or join PayPal.  One answer from Wix in this topic stated something like, "When it leaves Wix and goes to PayPal, what they do is not our concern."  Well it should be and Wix support people should become familiar with how PayPal works so as people like me can get good service from Wix.

I created the attached document which may not be totally correct in some detail but it will be more helpful than the Wix answers.

This is the response to another user in March which I refer to above from Wix within quote marks which was not helpful and not acceptable.  Other organisations win awards for being helpful, such as Authorize.net, so why not Wix.

"Replied by Hudson March 11, 2014

      Hi

As mentioned in the previous post, Wix does not control the type of options that get offered from PayPal, once you leave the Wix site,

As the moment, to be able to have users pay via credit card you can use PayPal or authorize.net,

PayPal will take your customer through to the PayPal and not keep them in the store,

We have tried your site and can see that once you get to paypal you are not offered the credit card option, which is out of Wix's control."

Wix is correct to say it is out of Wix's control but Wix should have sufficient knowledge to advise the likely problem solution with a setting not correct such as, in this case most likely, the PayPal account optional setting needs to be turned on - this enables non-PayPal members to pay by credit card.

      Hi,

I did read your post and understood you feel there is a misunderstanding regarding how to set up a direct payment with credit card through paypal and I quote:

I would like you to bring some sense and finality to the questions about using PayPal to take payments from customers using only their credit card and not having to login to PayPal or sign up with PayPal.  Please do not ay consult other "best answers" as part of other threads or however you state it.  Give a precise answer or two here.

It seems your wix add to cart buttons do not send the right data to PayPal and if they did, it would work as required.  In a previous post to wix in this thread or topic, this was the response from PayPal:

"I checked your website (www.yovogue.co.uk), and the funds you are receiving on your PayPal account, and it appears that your have a "3rd party shopping cart" button (by this they will mean wix is a third party shopping cart) on your website, but funds are being processed through PayPal as "Express checkout."  (The wix user told you he set his merchant account up with PayPal as Business which does not want to receive the "Express" request.)

When using an "Express checkout." feature via PayPal, your customer (the user of the wix site) must log in or create a PayPal account to make a payment, thus from the word itself as "Express checkout."

This 'possibly' explains why your (the wix user) customer does not have an option to buy from your website using only their card as a Guest.

To allow a card funded payment (without logging in on PayPal) from your customers, please change your PayPal payment solution from your website from "Express checkout" to "PayPal website payment standard as a Shopping cart button."

You can advise your web developer to update the payment solution on your website.

(The PayPal response to the wix user also stated the following)

Then, here is how you can create a "Shopping cart button" and integrate on your website:

Go to www.paypal.com.au and log in to your account.
Click 'Profile' near the top of the page.
    Click 'My selling tools.'
    Click 'Update' beside 'PayPal buttons.'
Click 'Create new button' under 'Related Items.'
Select 'Shopping Cart' for the button type.
Customise your button and click 'Create Button.'
Click 'Select Code,' and copy and paste the button code into your HTML code.
You should create a separate 'Add to Cart' button for each item you're selling on your website."

It seems that wix need to check their interface from wix to PayPal when the Checkout button is pressed to ensure it does not send an "Express" request.

Will you now tell us if the Wix PayPal solution for credit card payments only does work and if not what will you do about it?  (Do not say well Authorize.net works - Wix has been claiming PayPal works for credit cards only<)

      Hey,

The PayPal getaway that Wix offers allows you to accept direct credit cards payments from users without prompting them to sign into their PayPal account.

Did you try to set up your PayPal getaway and it did not work properly?

Why don't you Wiz support people read your own forums and threads to see what many people have said? Also, what does "PayPal getaway" mean which you wrote?

The facts are, which many of us are telling you, that Wix does not connect to PayPal correctly to allow credit card payments without logging into PayPal or registering with PayPal when we configure PayPal correctly with their Business merchant account setup.

Don't keep saying it works when it does not.

I have figured it out now. I looked up other providers similar to Wix and what they do better than Wix is provide a step by step instruction on how to set up PayPal including clearing the Cookies on the computer's browser to show the PayPal Checkout screen the way a buyer would see it. Why don't Wix put some effort into writing up a complete instruction about how to set up PayPal as good customer service?
