    Archiving Site Information and/or exporting

    Hello,

I'm wondering if there is any solutions or "work arounds" to creating an archive of my website. I would need to do so for compliance purposes, and I am wondering if there is A. a feature to easily archive changes to my website or B. easily export my website data so I can keep a permanent record of the content of my website.

We are in in the process of establishing a Wix Premium website and have a question. On other occasions, the template providers we have been with have suddenly gone out of business without warning, and we have lost all our website info and hard work. Does Wix stand to provide users with a reusable copy of their website html in case of unforeseen terminations? Thank you.

Thank you for contacting Wix support.

Wix does not stand to provide an option of exporting files created using Wix to another external destination/Host or for download.

I want to "clone" my website to a second domain

We are setting up a second company offshore. It will function exactly as the US firm, but has its own independent domain. We wish to "clone" our current site to the new domain, replace key graphics/logos for the "new" site, and put it out there. Is there an easy way to do this, or do we have to recreate everything from scratch??

      Hi Michael,

Please note that Wix does not delete sites. Could you please specify which site you're referring to? Please provide us with a URL of the site, a domain name and/or a username so we can help you locate the site.

      Thank you. Awaiting your reply.

      Hi,

You can transfer your premium plan from one site to another located within the same account.

To transfer your Premium status to another site:

      1. Sign into Wix.com.
      2. Click Subscriptions
      3. Under Subscriptions, click Premium Plans.
      4. Under your Premium site, click Transfer.
      5. From the Transfer window that opens, mark the radio dial below the site that you would like to transfer to and click OK.

Your premium plan is transferred from one site to another.

Note: The upgrade features will be removed immediately from the previous Wix site you just 'transferred' the upgrade from.
For further information regarding the Premium options click here.

Note: Please remember to change all information under 'Settings' in the editor such as SEO information.
You can change your domain in the domain manager. Click on Subscriptions > Domains.

For more information click here .

Please let us know if you require any further assistance.

I did that but "shipping rules" did not duplicate

do i have to start over or is there a way to copy them from my old site?

      Hi,

Indeed, store options are not duplicated. Also the duplicated site will not have a domain automatically attached to it.

Your site will not automatically be found by search engines. You can update your SEO settings for the new site from the Settings section of your Editor.
Any apps on your original site will be copied to your new site, however:
The duplicated site will only include the free version of your app.
The apps on your new site and the apps on your original site will not be connected.

Dear Wix Support - I have recently upgraded my hosting plan with Godaddy, as it was expiring today. I have been asked by their support team to get files of the website and upload it on my local computer and link it to their hosting plan. I would appreciate if you can help me with the following files so I can get my hosting plan sorted out. Here is what they have mentioned:

First: Leave your DNS as it's set. So don't worry about DNS for email or nameservers for the GoDaddy site.

Second: Contact WIX to see if you can get a copy of your site files. If you can move your site: Get the files from WIX and load them into your hosting plan. Preview the information to be sure it's showing correctly.

If you cannot move your site files: Your site will be down until you can get it redesigned. If you think you can get those done quickly get back to us to confirm the nameservers your domain will need to use.

Update your nameservers at your current registrar and then come to your GoDaddy account and be sure your DNS for the site and the emails through cPanel is set up. If you need time to redo your site keep the DNS as it is and use preview to be sure your site is looking how you want it before updating the nameservers.

Third: While you are waiting to get the site moved or built you would access your emails the same way you have been. However, you need to update the passwords for the emails I recreated to use the password you use now. Once you change the DNS for cPanel emails you would access the emails through cPanel.

You would need to work through getting the files you need downloaded to your local computer and then upload that information to your hosting plan. Once you have the files you need you can use the following link to FTP content to your hosting plan: Uploading Files to Your Website (FTP). You will want to use your hosting plan's IP address, instead of the domain, to link to your hosting plan.

      Hi,

It is not possible to download a Wix site or any of its pages as the Editor needs to be in constant connection with our servers. As such, it is not possible to work offline or save site pages to your computer.
You can use the "print screen" option to save your site pages to your computer, if necessary.

Note: Wix does not support the exporting of files created using Wix to an external destination or host. All Wix creations are hosted on Wix's servers. The advantages of using Wix as your host include improvements to your site's loading time, search engine optimization and more.

Also, please note that it is not possible to change the name servers of a domain name purchased from Wix. You may either transfer the domain away from Wix, or point the domain to a different IP address.

      * If you have purchased a Wix domain, but have decided to transfer it away from Wix, you can do so easily by following the instructions here.

      * To point your domain to a different IP address, you will need to modify the domain's A records. You will need to contact your new host and request for the relevant IP address. For more information about how to edit your A records, click here.

Please let us know should you require any further assistance.

Issue: I recently did work on a site and made sure I saved repeatedly, but when I returned to it the following week, the updated designs were not available during the 'edit site' mode. I also looked into the History of the site yet nothing is present beyond May (2 months ago). I did these updates just last week (July).

What happened and what can I do about it to prevent this mishap again?

    Question:

In order to feel a bit safer, I want to Duplicate My Site, and then ultimately I desire to publish it as the original domain that I am intending it for. How do I do this?

    Thank you.

To download the latest Firefox browser please click here
To download the latest Safari browser please click here

How can I create a 2nd site using my 1st website as a template?

We have multiple sites under the same brand umbrella and I'm trying to use the first site as a template because it already has all the right settings, colors, fonts, etc. Otherwise, I have to do a ton of work repeating the process over and over to get the Wix template to matchup to my sites. Is there a way to make my own website a template or copy elements from one site to another one? I have a few sites I need to make look like the first site I designed, but repeating the process of changing a Wix template into the same site settings I already created seems very redundant and wasteful of my time. Please help!
