There's no need to worry about exceeding the allowed bandwidth. We will warn you if you are getting close to this limit. There are no consequences prior to the first warning.


Note: The unlimited bandwidth and storage options are intended for the very high traffic sites that have a high usage of media assets. In most cases, a site will not exceed the bandwidth and storage limitations.


In the future, we intend to add a counter which will enable users to check their bandwidth usage for themselves. We will notify our users once it's ready for use.

    Bandwidth question

    Hi im looking at your offers, the 2GB bandwidth seems potentially low. What happens when the website has gone over the limit?

    Hi I am having problems with items that I have added to my online store. I took days to enter my inventory with details such as sizes, colors, description of accessories etc. A few days later there were items missing. I thought I did something wrong to I entered all over again making sure I save a few times before exiting. Well it happened again 2 days ago. I use google browser. How can I stop this from happening I would like to focus on selling what I have not spending my days entering my inventory over and over again….. VERY FRUSTRATING!!

      If you have selected to keep an inventory, remember that you must have items showing in-stock, if your stock is set to zero then it will not show in the store.

    on a free account, is the bandwidth the amount of data at one time or is it amount of data in a month? will 500mb be used only when people are on it and once off will it go back to 500? ex 10 people are on, bandwidth goes down to 480, then they get off and no one is on there. will it stay at 480 or go back to 500. thank you

    Will I exceed my bandwidth?

    I currently have 1GB of bandwidth. Given my audience, It's possible that 5,000-6,000 people at one time will be viewing / using the site. I'm definitely not looking to spend more (but will if I absolutely have to) -- however, will this be enough bandwidth so the site doesn't crash and/or move really slowly for users?

      As you can see in this thread, there's no way for you to measure the capability of your site. Consider that if you will be about to overcome your limit, we will let you know, and you will be able to upgrade to a higher premium plan (if needed).

    hi i need help please...

    i created a free website  http://gracegsaldua.wix.com/iambaker  but after 2 days, it lost all the pictures i uploaded and all the fonts was changed which i didnt deleted or changed. so i edited it again and after 1 day, all my pictures was deleted again..what does this mean? pls help...

    please i needed back the website i designed coz its not easy doing it again and again...it consumes a lot of time...please help..

      Going over your accounts media I can see you have 109 images, are you having issues with those or with the ones you have set on your site?


      If the content was lost from your site please try to revert it the a different saved version and let us know if you cannot find a version that holds the lost content.


      You can now find all of your backed-up versions in the Site History section in My Account.

      You can also overview of all edits and changes you have made to your saved and published website. It makes it easy for you to view, flag or restore to a prior version of your website at any point.


      To access your site history:

      1. From My Account, next to your site, click Manage & Edit Site.

      2. From the right of the page that opens, under Site Actions, click My Site History.

      Your site history page opens.

      You can also create a duplicate copy of your site by going to  My Account , clicking  Manage & Edit Site  and then clicking  Duplicate Site . For more information, click  here .

    How do I work out the size of my downloadable files and the size of my pages?

    I am trying to calculate which package I need for my second site with you, and need to know how to find out the size of my downloadable files and page sizes in KB for part of the calculation on the size of bandwidth I need.  Please help!

    Good Morning , I am planning to move start my ecommerce on Wix  i would like to try with the  ecommerce plan but I am worried about the bandwidth maximum, I have another website and now i have approx 2000 visit a month. Is enough with the 10gb you offer? please if you can help me . We are working on advertising and we can have days with 30 visits and day with 103 visits it will be enough?

      It will definitely be enough. The unlimited bandwidth and storage options are meant for the very high traffic sites that have high usage of media assets. Otherwise you will not cross the bandwidth and storage limitations. We will warn you if you're getting close to the storage and bandwidth limitations and you can rest assured that we won't disrupt your Premium status if you need to upgrade beyond the limit.
      We plan to incorporate the capability to check the size of your site in the near future.


      To add an Online Store to any template, click Add > Online Store > Product Gallery > Add to Page.

      We do not posses the ability to check your current usage.

      When you reach close to your limit, our system generates an automatic message.

      Let me make sure i fully understand this.

      You're saying you have no way of knowing or proving if i go over my bandwidth.

      But your system will tell me automatically?


      If you're unable to see the evidence or prove i've gone over my limit how can i be sure your system is accurate given you have no way of telling me for sure?


      I've been a member of many site builders over the years and wix is one of them.. surly having a basic bandwidth counter should be a top priority no?


      As has happened in the last, a site has been unable to offer me evidence of my site reaching or exceeding its bandwidth and shut the site down until i paid for the extra usage..mean time i would be loosing out on that extra custom due to the downtime.


      If i'm unable to see what exactly is going on with my site i will be loosing out and it will mean i'm likely to go elsewhere.


      So with this in mind and given you can't give me an ETA, can you tell me what stage your team is at in regarding to selling up a simple bandwidth counter?

      We as the Wix support team have no access to the monitoring system of users bandwidth usage.


      At the moment, the monitoring is automated by the system  that sends a message once you are close to your limit.

      I can assure you that most our users are very far away from their limit.


      We will not shut down your site once you  exceed the bandwidth limit, however it will hurt your site's performance, and the access to your site will be much  slower.


      We understand the necessity of such a feature.

      As mentioned earlier, we do not have an ETA, the addition of this feature is prioritized amongst many other features requested by Wix users.

      Please do not take offence to this but as a user and potential long term customer who is trying to decide wherever they should upgrade and use Wix as a host this is something that i have to address as ever business user would.

      The same question was asked  by " teatimewithtesters" on  April 18, 2011.

      its now Feb 3rd 2014.

      I understand this kinda thing does take its time, but with what appears to be no development or movement on these functions as well as many other minor shopping cart ones, i do have to question  Wix's use to me as a business.
