You can easily transfer a Wix site from one account to another. This process will create a copy in the second account.

To transfer a site: Sign in to your Wix account > click My Sites > next to the relevant site, click Manage Site > on the right, under Handy Shortcuts, click Show More > click Transfer Site > fill in the information in the pop-up windows that follow.

The owner of the account receiving the site will receive an email from which they can confirm the transfer.

Note: You can also transfer a domain, purchased from Wix, to another Wix account. Click here for information. However, please note that it is not possible to transfer a premium plan from one Wix account to another. Therefore if you transfer your domain to another account, the second account will need to upgrade to a premium plan to be able to use that domain. Check out our premium upgrade options here.

I started building my site and then decided to duplicate it while experimenting with the layout. This way if I didn't like my changes, I could go back to the original. The domain is linked to the original. How can I make my duplicate site, the primary site linked to the domain? It seems like I may lose some things by switching my domain. And I see where I can transfer the site to another account but they are both under the same account (mine). I believe that I will lose my file of uploaded images this way as well. Can you help me? Thanks!   --Shanna

      Hi Shanna,

To use your domain with your new Wix site, simply transfer your premium plan from the old site to the new site. Once the plan is transferred, assign your domain to your new premium Wix site.

For instructions on how to transfer your premium plan from one Wix site to another under the same Wix account, click here.

      Hi,

You can transfer your premium plan from one site to another located within the same account.

To transfer your Premium status to another site:

      1. Sign into Wix.com.
      2. Click Subscriptions
      3. Under Subscriptions, click Premium Plans.
      4. Under your Premium site, click Transfer.
      5. From the Transfer window that opens, mark the radio dial below the site that you would like to transfer to and click OK.

Your premium plan is transferred from one site to another.

Note: The upgrade features will be removed immediately from the previous Wix site you just 'transferred' the upgrade from.
For further information regarding the Premium options click here.

Note: Please remember to change all information under 'Settings' in the editor such as SEO information.
You can change your domain in the domain manager. Click on Subscriptions > Domains.

For more information click here .

I've transferred a site that I designed within my account to my clients account. Can I delete the site from my account without affecting the site (copy) that sits within my clients account? If I delete the site from my account will the linked images be deleted? Do I need the images to be transferred and r-uploaded to me client's account or can they live within my account?

Basically I have designed the site and now want to hand over everything to my client's account so that they can manage everything including contacts etc... - Can you let me know how to do this effectively without just directing me to the self help pages - I would love a direct answer within this forum.

      Hi,

      Thank you for contacting Wix.

Yes, the site deleted will not affect the transferred copy. The images cannot be transferred from one account to the other. The images within the site remain but the folder cannot be moved.

assuming control of a WIX website owned by someone else

A customer of ours in the UK can no longer conduct business and has given us the go ahead to take over his WIX website based in the UK.    With his permission, how can we take over the website so we can handle sales and shipping of the product he set the website up for?

      Hey,

You will have to use an account with Wix in order to manage the site.

The Wix design platform is totally free for any user.

We do have a premium offer for a small fee that enables our users to get more storage and bandwidth if they need it, the option to remove the Wix tags, and the option to connect their Wix design to their own domain name.

You can find out more about it here .

For the Wix Premium Learning Center, click here.

If you don’t need any of these options then you can use it for free as much as you like.

All the best, Dean - Wix Team

I started working on a website about 6 weeks ago and then stopped for a few weeks. Went back to login and for the life of me I cannot find the login information I thought I had saved. Is there any way for the Wix staff to search sites so I might find it and transfer it to this new account? I would give anything not to have to start over from scratch. Thanks!

    Transferring and duplicating sites

I don't think that it's rocket science to want to duplicate an existing modified template to another site project or even another account. This is such an obvious need and save a ton of time from having to recreate something.
