Issue: I recently did work on a site and made sure I saved repeatedly, but when I returned to it the following week, the updated designs were not available during the 'edit site' mode. I also looked into the History of the site yet nothing is present beyond May (2 months ago). I did these updates just last week (July).

What happened and what can I do about it to prevent this mishap again?

    Question:

In order to feel a bit safer, I want to Duplicate My Site, and then ultimately I desire to publish it as the original domain that I am intending it for. How do I do this?

    Thank you.

How can I create a 2nd site using my 1st website as a template?

We have multiple sites under the same brand umbrella and I'm trying to use the first site as a template because it already has all the right settings, colors, fonts, etc. Otherwise, I have to do a ton of work repeating the process over and over to get the Wix template to matchup to my sites. Is there a way to make my own website a template or copy elements from one site to another one? I have a few sites I need to make look like the first site I designed, but repeating the process of changing a Wix template into the same site settings I already created seems very redundant and wasteful of my time. Please help!

      Hello,

Please check the best reply of this topic for complete information on how to duplicate your site.

You will be able to copy paste texts from one site to another, but you won't be able to copy images and other elements.

      Regards,

      Carla

    Security, Backup and storage

    Dear WIX!

First of all I would like to thank you for having this awesome website and giving people the opportunity to make beautiful websites.

I have a question for you:

How secure is the back up and storage..? I have used the last months making an awesome website and I have probably spent over 200 hours making it. So I was wondering, just so I can sleep at night, that my website is safe with you and the chance of loosing anything is so small I do not have to worry.. :)

    That's all!

    Thank you again,

    best regards

    Helge Moe

    Ben,
    Thank you.

Is also possible to duplicate and get a copy of the files downloaded or emailed to me?

Please note that this is not possible, as Wix doesn't support the option of exporting files created using Wix to an external destination. We host all your Wix creations on our servers.

You can easily transfer a Wix site from one account to another! This process will create a copy in the other account.

      1. Go to "My Account" -> click on "Manage & Edit Site" next to the relevant site.
      2. Under "Site Actions" on the right side, click on "More" -> "Transfer Site".
      3. Add all relevant information and follow the steps.

You can also follow instructions here.

Once the site is on her account she can upgrade it on her end.

I had an experience that the site I used to use has only 7 days backup so it created a big problem to me once my site's down. I tried your "duplicate site" but some info are not there when compared with my original site (such as shipping cost, ordered history, & etc). Please advise if there's any backup procedures I can do to backup everyday's info? Thanks!

      Hey,

Unfortunately it is not possible to export the info from your site.

The last saved version we can restore your site to dates back to January 2014.

You can find all of your backed-up versions in the Site History section in My Account.

You can also overview of all edits and changes you have made to your saved and published website. It makes it easy for you to view, flag or restore to a prior version of your website at any point.

      To access your site history:

      1. From My Account, next to your site, click Manage & Edit Site.

      2. From the right of the page that opens, under Site Actions, click My Site History.

      Your site history page opens.

For step by step instructions click here.

You can also create a duplicate copy of your site by going to  My Account , clicking  Manage & Edit Site  and then clicking  Duplicate Site . For more information, click  here .

This is very discouraging to just rely on Wix servers to hold the site without user having the ability to save site backup offline.  Wix has a great setup and easy to use site hosting but it is unfortunate that they can trust users with the ability to save the site/hosting they pay for.
