To change your Wix username: Sign in to your Wix account > click My Sites > hover over the user panel at the top right of the page > click Account Settings > next to User Name, enter your new username > click Save Changes.

You can also change your email and password on this page.

Note: You cannot change your username to one that you have previously used or that someone else is using. It must be a unique username.

    Hello,

    I seem to be having a similar problem. Every time I try to change my user name, I get the "Ops! Something went wrong!" message. I would really like to change my user name from "ohiostatespeechand" to "OSUForensics". If someone could assist me in this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.

    I have tried numerous times to change my user name.  I have tried different browsers and still get the same message.  PASSWORD INCORRECT.   I have changed the password several times.  I have cleared the browser/cache/add-on/password too. 

    I would like it changed to:

    GENXFITNESS or GENERATIONXFITNESS.

    Please advise.

    Hi,

    I'm having trouble changing my username as it always says "something went wrong." I've already tried the steps found here but it still won't let me change my username. 

    Current: chrisvernon2013

    Change to: windowrevival or winrevival or winrevivalGC

      Please try changing your username via a different browser. Also, please try following the instructions in this link for troubleshooting this error. 

       

      Important note: you cannot change your username into a previously used username.

      Please let us know if the issue persists and if there's anything additional we may assist you with.

      Hi Marina,

      I've already tried just about every step on the link that you gave me but to no avail. I have also tried a lot of usernames but it still won't let me change it.

      The 'Save Changes' blue tab does not highlight at all. 

       

      Current is:  Kebtyler

      Change to:  Tyler Farm or TylerFarm

      Additionally, can I purchase a domain name and still have WIX host the site for free?

      Hey Kebtyler,

      Please add a screen shot of the error you experience when trying to change your user name. The problem might be with using the space bar.

      You can either purchase the one of our premium plans and receive a free domain for 1 year with it, or purchase the connect your own domain plan, in which case you would connect an already existing domain from another host to your Wix site. Here is some more information about our plans.

    Username change

    Hi there, i'm looking to change my username from 'christian-wren' to 'christianwren', but it says it's already taken. Now I think I may have registered 'christianwren' a while ago with a different email, but can't remember. Is it possible to see what email 'christianwren' is registered under so I can log in and delete the account?

      I have checked for you if an account with the username christianwren exists and it does not exist. This means that it must have been used before and can not be used again, if you can not use it. Please see the reply above for more details.

    Hello!

    I am not able to change my username either and I keep getting the "Oops, something went wrong" message. I've tried on two different browsers, one of which has a cleared history and cache. Could I get a little help please? (I'd like to be able to change my username to RagnarokReilegh)

    Hi, 

     

    I have tried all the methods suggested here to change my account name, and none of them have worked. If you could please change mine from "cupcakestarr" --> to "keggleston-art" I would very much appreciate it. I feel rather embarrassed of my site's username at the moment, and would like it fixed. Thank you!

      EDIT: I have consistently gotten the "Ops! Something went wrong!" Message, and in addition cleared my computer's cache and everything. :(

    Hey,

    Really loving the Wix interface. Great site builder!

    However I am facing a problem with the change of username. It was saved as changemakerssociet instead of changemakerssociety. Everytime I try changing the username, it says "Ops! Something went wrong. Try again later." 

    Please change the username for me, changes that need to be made are mentioned above.

    This is really important, and I cannot publish the site unless the changes are done! So please do try and change the username ASAP. I have read a similar problem faced by another user and I tried the solutions you mentioned but it didn't work for me either! So please change it for me as you have done for the other user.

      Please clear your browser's cache using the instructions below and try again.

      Thanks a lot! It's done :)

      Just one more thing, there is a member sign up option on my site. The details required to sign up are only the email and password. I'd like to know how to add more details to sign up, to know more about who is signing up. Like email ID's aren't sufficient to determine their full names and stuff, so how do i do that?

    Hello, I have tried several times to change my username, but keep getting told "Ops! there is a problem. Please try again later". I have tried logging in again, have worked from a different computer, and waited for a day, but I still get the same error message.

    Any advice on what to do?

      Hi,

       

      Please follow these steps:

      1. Clear your browser's cache and cookies of "Everything". You can find step-by-step instructions here.

      2. Try using other browsers to open Wix. Recommended browsers include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and either IE or Safari (depending on whether you use a PC or a MAC).

       

      If you are still having issues, please provide us this information:

      1. What Operating System you're using (i.e. Mac OSX, Windows XP, etc.)
      2. What browsers you've tried - and include the version of the browser (can generally be found by going to Help > About within the browser).
      3. Attach a screenshot of the problem, if possible. For instructions on how to take a screenshot, click here.

      Hello,

      I have tried working from an Apple Mac via Safari, and then, two different PCs, using both Mozilla Firefox and Explorer. On all three computers I keep getting the same "Ops! Something went wrong" message.

      I would like to change the username from sustainableneighbo (which makes no sense) to sustainablegroups.

    Hello,

    I have a premium account, and don't mind if the username changes the free URL. I'm concerned, however, that updating the username could somehow affect the purchased, custom domain name, which was not purchased through Wix. Please help!

      In case you use your own external domain you won't be effected as you are using your domain instead of the free Wix URL :)
