Wix offers an amazing feature which takes your HTML site and automatically creates an optimized version for mobile view. You can then edit your Mobile site using the Mobile Editor.

To switch to the Mobile Editor, simply click the Mobile icon at the top left of your Editor. From here you can change the placement and size of your elements, hide elements from your mobile site, create a Mobile Action Bar and even change the style of certain elements, such as text.

does wix have something like PhoneGap to turn our wix website into an iOS app?

Does wix have something like PhoneGap to turn our wix website into an iOS app?  If not, can wix websites be used in conjunction with the PhoneGap to create iOS and Android apps?

My goal is to create a website and have apps that mimick it.

    Thx

Since we can't convert into iOS or android apps, I would like to be able to charge a small fee (e.g., $1) to have access to certain "bonus" information on my website.  Can I do this through Wix?  To me, it's like buying an iOS or android app for $1.

I look forward to your answer.  Thank you

      Hey,

You are embedding your website with an external domain which is severely harming your site's display on the mobile devices. Wix does not support embedding of Wix websites to a domain in this way so we cannot provide support in this matter.

To make sure that site's display is not harmed, you need to connect your domain properly through Wix. At Wix, you can be sure that we are doing everything we can to make sure that your site is properly displayed on the mobile devices.

To connect your site to a domain please visit our  Domain Portal. The connection may take up to 72 hours to take effect.

Please note that connecting a domain to your site is a premium feature. To view our premium packages click  here.

As you can see, your Free domain is properly displayed:

Hi, I only have the option to create a separate version of my website for mobile use. I assume this is as my site is flashplayer rather than html5 (which I gauged from previous comments on this topic) would it be worth changing over to html5 in order to have the capacity to have a single site which is both desktop and mobile friendly, and if so how do I do this??

That's correct, if you'll create a HTML5 site you'll be able to use the Mobile Optimized version as well. In order to create a HTML5 site, please choose a template here. You can view our Getting Started guide here.

Thanks Itamar. My current website is upgraded to the combo package and therefore has its own domain. I would like the new HTML5 website to keep this domain. How can I go about doing this?

You can transfer your premium plan from one site to another located within the same account.

To transfer your Premium status to another site:

      1. Sign into Wix.com.
      2. Click My Account.
      3. Under My Account, next to Manage Premium, click Packages.
      4. From the Packages tab, under your Premium site, click Transfer.
      5. From the Transfer window that opens, mark the radio dial below the site that you would like to transfer to and click OK.

Your premium plan is transferred from one site to another.

Note: The upgrade features will be removed immediately from the previous Wix site you just 'transferred' the upgrade from.
For further information regarding the Manage Premium options click here.

You can change your domain in the domain manager. Click on "My account" -> "Manage Premium" -> "Domains".

For more information click here .

Don't know why it is hard for me to get this to work on my phone but it shows all out of wack and no alignment to search other pages. I though it would be a simply optimize and go but it's looking like I have to almost build a complete new mobile site. Kind of a pain for me. Any  easier way to handle this?

      Hi shearsynerg7,

Wix's mobile optimization process will try to translate your desktop site to mobile in the best possible way. However, as every site is built differently this process isn't perfect. You can make changes to your mobile site easily through your mobile site editor:

If you have specific issues with alignment or display of your site on your mobile device itself after editing your mobile view through your Wix editor, please elaborate what these difficulties are and let us know what phone you are using. Also, uploading screenshots can help us greatly. You can find step by step instructions here .

      I hope this was helpful,

      - Daniel M, Wix team.

I like a lot how the mobile version of wix blog looks like.

I like that the top bar is always on top, i like the share buttons and that the text uses big font and it's easy to read. Can you make the mobile versions like this?

      Hi,

You can create a site that it's content displayed differently on different devices using different devices (Mobile, Desktop etc)

A mobile-optimized site is automatically created for you from the contents of your desktop HTML website. After viewing and editing your mobile site in the Mobile Editor, activate Optimized Mobile View to direct your users to this optimized version of your website from smartphone devices.

New elements and changes that you make to your desktop site will affect your mobile site. Therefore, we highly recommend building and editing your desktop site to completion before editing your mobile site and enabling Optimized Mobile View.

      Hi,

I checked your Wix account and I saw you have not created a mobile site under this account.

I checked your Wix account and I saw you created your site using the Flash platform.

Please keep in mind: mobile devices no longer support Flash.

I recommend you to check the HTML platform we offer.

You can created a site with the HTML5 editor, you will be able to access it on all mobile devices!
