Attn: Admin. Please reply the below question to the mailbox of jul346

Hello, I am new to the WIX websites - I would like to know after i have designed my website using one of your free templates if i can transfer this to my own domain and hosting plan that i have already outside of WIX.

Do i need to buy any of your packages in order to do this? If so is it a one off monthly payment.

I would also be needing to do regular updates to my website, which i will need to do in WiX -

What do i need to do or pay so i can continue to update my wix template and publish it in my own server?

    Thanks

    Julia

      Hi Julia,

You can connect your existing domain to your Wix website by one of two ways: either pointing, or transferring. Both these options require a premium account.

Once you are done creating your Wix site, you can connect your own domain. You will need to upgrade your site to one of our Premium plans that allow for this service. You can connect it to your Wix site by following the instructions here.

In order to complete the process ask your hosting company (where you purchased your domain name from), to point your domain to the Wix server using the following cnames: ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com

You can also get a free domain coupon from us if you buy one of the yearly plans (Combo/Unlimited/eCommerce).
You can find more information about this sale here.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

      Hi Julia,

Unfortunately Wix sites cannot be exported to outside hosts. You can connect your own domain purchased elsewhere to your Wix site, connecting a domain is a premium feature, any of our premium plans support this feature.

Let us know if you need any further information,

      - Daniel M, Wix team.

Wix, please come up with an option of updating only the data on the website. this way anyone who does not know how to use wix can be able to do this, the current editor is only appropriate for the initial built of the website and is only easy for the one who actually made the website to edit because he can be able to maintain the look of the website. Please consider this

I have  my own domain and a host for it. I am considering transferring it to you. The domain name itself will not change, so will the analectics that were generated from my old host still hold same? Also, I am (out of ignorance) worried that it wont display correctly.

I noticed that when I look at my wix site in preview mode, not via the editing page, the pages did not work on other computers. It worked fine on my desktop at home. Now, it appears to work fine when I preview it from the editing mode. Is this just because it is not published yet?

Im holding off on publishing the site until I am comfortable with where it is at. So, Im building it fist, then I want to transfer over my domain name and upgrade to your VIP package

Also, one more thing. Sorry, I purchased my domain several years ago, but I don't remember which one. How do I find this out, or do I need to have that information.

      Hi,

In order for us to investigate and assist, we require additional information. What exactly doesn't work on your site? I've tested it on a number of updated browsers and computers and was able to browse through all of your pages perfectly.

Regarding your second question, I'm not sure I understand. If you've purchased a domain elsewhere in the past and you do not recall it, how can we help you find it?

Maybe I misunderstood your question. If so, please elaborate on it.

      Hi thanks for the reply

There are two things that are not working. When I go to my account, and preview my site, the gallery slideshows/thumbnails etc do not auto move. You have to do it manually. This does NOT appear to be an issue if I am in the editing mode first, then preview it. When I do that it works fine. The other thing that does not work in either mode is my booking form which can be found as a sub file in the calendar menu link. I get a blank brown header line, but no content.

My second question was based off of your transfer form in which you have to say where your domain came from. I do not remember where that was or from whom I purchased it. Do I need to know where it came from, and if so is there a way I can figure out where I purchased it. I looked at your list of examples (go daddy, etc) and do not recall any of those as being where I got it. I'm sure it was one of them, as it was a mainstream provider if that makes sense. I seem to remember purchasing before I went to my current host (photum) if that helps.

My goal is to get my wix site up to speed and with most of my content, then go live. Ill be purchasing your VIP monthly plan (30 bucks a month deal) as that is pretty much what I am paying now.

      -Tony

I just want to be sure when I do the transfer, my clients and people who have been to my site before can get to it easy, and of course I want it to show up in the searches for new clients. I have this somewhat established with my old host.

This is a sub question, and sorry if I sound stupid. But say someone has my site bookmarked right now. Then I transfer my domain over to you, and change nothing other than the host (photum - wix), when that person clicks on their bookmark will my wix site come up, or will their link be broken, and they would have to re-bookmark it.

I really know very little of this stuff, and am learning as I go...so sorry if I sound like a tard

      Hi Tony,

I have just tested your site and:

      1) You have set your gallery autoplay on your homepage to 5 seconds and it is working great when previewing your site (I tested the Preview Website link from My Account).

      2) Unfortunately we will not be able to help in this case as we have no information about the domain purchases other than wix domains. You can check the domain details on sites like whoi.is or domaintools.net.

      3) When you publish your site your users can easily visit it by using its url. Your site will be present in search results in 1 - 3 months on average after google indexes it. Don't forget to optimize your site!

      4) If just a domain name was bookmarked (like www.mydomain.com) they will be redirected to your wix site if you connected it to the domain. If they bookmarked page address, it will not be successful as the page address will change according to AJAX and HTML5 mechanisms we use on wix. You can learn more here.

      I hope it helps,

      Thanks, Uma - Wix Team

      Hey,

Wix doesn't support the option of exporting files created using Wix to an external destination / Hosts as we host all your Wix creations on our servers. You can however connect your own domain to your Wix site, click here for more information.

Please note that you can edit your Wix site at anytime as long as the site exists. Simply enter your editor > edit it > click on "Publish" to save your changes online. Your Wix site will automatically update once you click "Publish".

There is a problem with the site is not displayed within the site genitive,
Show that there are problematic sites static.wix.com where he stops and there is a delay when trying to pull data from any of these sites and this causes crashes page and not display their contents (in the case was within the iframe).

Problem from the same site, because it has the experience of the replacement site and several other sites were working without any problems.

    example:

    http://www.taibahu.edu.sa/pages.aspx?sid=19629

If you has assumed a website previously owned by another and have now made changes tot he site these changes will take time before they reflect on search engine results. Make sure to both save and publish as publish updates the online website version.
