    @Jerrid Foiles

You can easily add HTML code to your Wix site:

    1. From the left toolbar, click Add.

    2. From the Add list, click AddOns. Click HTML.

    3. From the HTML Settings window, under Mode, click the drop-down menu and select HTML code

    4. Under HTML/embed code, type or paste your HTML code.

    5. Click Update.

    6. Click outside of the HTML Add on to close the HTML Settings window.

I have experience building web-sites with HTML code.  I turned to Wix for your option of easy Flash designs as I am not experienced with that language/technology at all.  If I was to switch to HTML 5 is there any chance of getting a code/text editor option for guys like me that just want to

    <p> speak in HTML?</p>

Is there an issue going on with the editor for HTML5? I don't see any color options for anything except for three color choices..

Choose your HTML site's template from this link. Once you find something you like, click 'edit'.

The editor will open. click 'Save' from the top and name your document.

You now have the site saved to your account. You can see it by going to Wix.com  >  'My Account'.

To avoid 'object sticking to mouse' ,make sure to keep the mouse cursor inside of the Wix editor at all times. as it won't record you letting go of the mouse button and think you're still dragging.

I recommend pressing F11 while editing to make the editor Fullscreen. you can Press F11 again once you finished.

@tweetybolton, You will not be able to switch a template from Flash to HTML and vice versa. If you build a Flash site and would like to convert it to HTML5, we have our exporter tool here.

*Make sure you read all the notes before submitting your site. We will not be able to reverse this for you.

I see you purchased the Unlimited Yearly upgrade, which is great! You will first need create your HTML5 Site! Log in to Wix > go to the Create page > choose HTML5 from the categories on the left > and pick your template. Then you will be able to transfer your premium upgrade to your new site.

You can learn more about transferring your premium upgrades here.

Thank you for your insightful and very detailed post. The html5 editor is very new (under 2 months) while the Flash editor had years to develop and become more friendly, don't worry, it will not take this long this time, we already have experience. We are working on new features and improving the existing ones. It will become friendlier and more intuitive over time.

What has happened!!? I was so excited to use the new HTML5 site builder only to find it completely different from the flash editor I've been using for YEARS!  I understand Flash and HTML5 are completely different entities and require different coding but I don't see why the new editor is sooooo hard to use.  I had planned to create a completely new HTML5 site but I find the editor frustrating and almost unusable...and the templates are not nearly as beautiful as in the flash version.  I even had customer support transfer my existing flash site to the HTML5 with horrific results.  I understand this is being worked on.

It is definitely not a user-friendly interface where as the flash editor is basic, understandable and fast.  I am no web-designer which is why I started using WIX in the first place.  The point was that I could create an amazing website without a ton of hassle and a huge learning curve. The HTML5 editor is so oriented toward manipulating the entire site that it makes changing specific elements difficult without changing other things in the entire site.  For example the colors, the only option is to change the colors for the whole site and not specific elements. It's so frustrating.  The other thing I can't stand is the fact that every time I click on ANY element, say to simply move it, the settings box pops up in front of it and requires closing. So Irritating!  Photo cropping was tricky in the flash editor but in HTML5 it's impossible.  There seems to be a function missing and I should be able to drag the crop bounding box to any section of the photo I choose, that is the point of cropping.

I remain hopeful and optimistic about the next version of the HTML5 editor that WIX releases. I hope you guys can fix it because it has made creating a website harder and I'm sure that isn't the result you are going for.  Not everyone is versed in the ways of web design and coding and the reason I pay for this service is to make my life easier.
