Can I have both a html5 and flash version of my site on the same domain?

    Hi,

As the title suggests, can I have both a html5 and flash version of my site on the same domain? This is so that I can cater to both types of users. The version they would choose will be indicated on a landing page. Please let me know if that is possible.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

      Hi Patrick,
It is not possible to combine Flash site and HTML site.
Please refer to the Best Reply of this thread for further information.
      Thanks.

Why is that? I see many websites that allow the user to pick either version of the website on the landing page under the same domain. Can you please provide more details why that is not possible than just saying no? I want to understand the reasoning.

      Appreciate it

The Flash and HTML platforms are two distinct platforms, each with a different page structure and features; unfortunately, this means they cannot be combined under one website.

      Thanks,

I understand. So you cannot have 2 platforms under 1 domain? I.e. www.example.com/html and www.example.com/flash

You know what I find on every single one of your HTML for Flash site support pages is  about the same. It's either A. " Well Pinterest or (fill in the Blank) needs to ...blah blah blah. Like it's their fault. In the 10 months I've had this site, Ive tried a FB like button, Pinterest, Google +etc to no avail spending hours  of my life on it thinking I'm doing something wrong. Everybody has a FB button.  OR B. you say

Uh Ya, well you're running flash and that's an outside html.code, We didn't write it so Uhh, we don't even know or support any.. THAT! kinda...stuff. Like we're holding a rottin fish asking you to cook it.

IT"S FB, Google Calender. Test it already. Instead of trying to give us some third world apps that's no ones ever heard of.But the hypocracy kicks in when we see FB, Pinterest & Tweet buttons on every single one of you're pages! We don't you step up and say our cheap flash in the pan format that we got out of a cereal box doesn't really do anything you want it too. But guess what, We got a zillion templates to choose from. ..psst haha but actually we just change the color and words on about 25 or 30 of them because we think you're dumb.

I have been following the instructions for the HTML widget for inserting paypal banner and another banner that connects to a sister site.  It simply isn't working...the information doesn't show up on my site.  I cannot figure out what I could be doing incorrectly since I am following the instructions wix has provided.

Any help would be appreciated I really want to get those up and running

    Thanks

CAN I convert my flash templates website into html5?

Replied by Hudson August 5, 2013

      Yes of course,

Please read the following notes before submitting your site (you can find all the notes here).

      1. Keep in mind that this tool is experimental and may not export the site like you wanted, this tool is designed to give you a head start in converting your Flash site to HTML5 but manual modifications are usually required afterwards.

      2. Once the site you submitted is exported, a copy of the site will be created in your Wix account (similar name but starting with html_name) The original site will not be affected! Also any premium package/domain connected will not be effected unless changed by you manually.

3 . Some of the features that are possible in Flash are not possible on the HTML5 editor at this stage. This means, things that are not possible in the HTML5 editor will not be copied into the exported sites.

      4. Please make sure to submit the Wix URL of your site regardless if its connected to a domain or not ( www.wix.com/username/sitename)

      5. Once your exported copy was created, you are welcome to post your feedback on this thread. Please include the URL of the exported site for reference (the original URL would also help)

      6. If you have a premium package and want to transfer it to a new HTML site you can do that. For more information follow this link

    Hi,

Unfortunately, this workaround is the only option, but it should work as I tested it on my site.

    Thank you,

    Dina.

Hi I tried the work around but it doesnt come out the way I want it. I want my picture to change everytime the mouse hovers over the link. Pretty much just like the website with the apple but my picture instead of the apple. How  do I achieve this?

    Hi sandyclifton2,

You can create this effect using the following workaround.

Please create a menu from individual buttons and place this button on your site pages and not on the header.

Upload an Apple image to your Wix site.

Place the first image on the home page on top of the menu button : '  Home ' then go to the second page and place the Apple button on top of the second button menu.

copy this process to all your site pages.

This way you will create an effect your apple moves with menu buttons.

Add a button to your site from the Buttons & Menus section of the Add list and link it to an external site, a page from your site, a document or an email address.

    To add a button:

    1. From the left toolbar, click the Add icon.
    2. From the  Add list, click  Buttons & Menus. Click one of the button options.
    3. From the Button Settings window, under Button Text, type a name for your button.
    4. Under Link to, click the field.
    5. From the Link Settings window that opens, click your Link type: Web Address, Page, Email or Document and add your link.
Note: For more information about adding links, see the below section, Linking Your Buttons.
    6. From the Link Settings window, click Done.
    7. Click outside of the button to close the Button Settings window.

    Thank you,

    Dina.

How would I be able to create the feature with the moving apple on this website when they move from one menu item to the next? Is this possible to do on the html 5 platform? Is the flash platform still available? How would I do this on the html 5 platform?? It seems that the apple leaf moves too in some of the pics. Like an animation or something.

Site to look at is this one and the apple move and changes

    Hey Tim,

If you create a mobile website, it will appear on mobile devices (and not the HTML site).

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I am going to make the entire site now html, Is there a way to still incorporate the mobile version? Like... if you were to be on a mobile device the website would show up as it does on a regular browser, but can wix maybe identify that you are on a mobile and ask if you would like to switch to mobile view or something like that? Is that possible?
