Site performance is very important to us at Wix! We have recently made many changes that should improve the performance and loading time of your site.

If you are still experiencing performance issues on your site, it may be because of one of the following factors:

- The speed of your own connection or an overload at your ISP during peak hours
- The amount of content on your site or home page
-  A large number of animations and/or animated behaviors/effects on your site
- Very large MP3 files which load on your home page
- A slower computer (i.e. with a slow processor or low RAM) which may load the site slowly, as it cannot process the information quickly enough.

In order to optimize your site for speed, try to follow these guidelines:

- Don't use too many animations on your homepage
- Try to use a uniform font for your site (1-3 fonts)
- If you decide to use an MP3 on your homepage, try to use a smaller file.
- If you use many shapes and components in the editor to create a larger image, it would be best to create a single image, with these elements, on your computer and then upload it to Wix.

If, after optimizing your site for speed, you continue to experience performance issues, we ask that you please load the site using www.webpagetest.org (an independent 3rd party site that will test the speed).

If you are not satisfied with the results received in the site test, and your is indeed loading slowly, please send us the link to the results, as well as your site URL. We will investigate the results and review your site. If there is indeed an issue on our end, we will do our best to investigate it and fix it ASAP. For further assistance, please post in this FAQ.

My site is extremely slow to load.  I ran webpagetest.org on chrome.  It received an F on first byte time ( minidentistbeta.com.140730_JA_13F9 (1).har ).

I ran it more than twice on IE11, and it never finished.  In other words, IE11 would kept crashing on it.

I don't mind paying more per month, or even paying one of your people to fix this, but I need to resolve the slow aspect asap

    Thank you

      Hi,

Thank you for contacting the Wix support team.

I checked your site using various browsers and was able to reproduce the results, see results here.

Keep in mind that there are two main factors that affect the loading time:

      1. The size of your website

      2. The Internet connection that you have through your ISP

Since we cannot do anything to help your site regarding factor 2, your main goal should be optimizing your site's size.

I see you have a very heavy site with 349 pages.

Heavy content such as galleries, video's, HTML coding etc. will cause longer load times.

To ensure that you maintain the quality of your photos and decrease loading time to a minimum, please follow the guidelines  here .

Also please note that each page in your site is loaded separately so that if you have large amounts of media in your site it is recommended to spread it on different pages and not all on one page.

Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

      Many thanks, Barrios

    Hi Wix!

My site: www.charlottechesscenter.org has been loading very slowly for quite some time. Please help. I have eliminated some unused images and such, but seems to be running at the same slow rate. I see that a lot of users have this same problem. Should I switch to a different web host? Please advise. I've read most of the generic replies, please send me something more detailed.

      Hi Peter,

I ran a speed test on your site, you can see the results here.

There are two main factors that affect the loading time:

      1. The size of your website

      2. The Internet connection that you have through your ISP.

Since you cannot control or adjust factor 2, your main goal should be optimizing your site's size.

I visited your editor and I can see you have a large amount if pages on your site, please note, having a lot of pages on your site may cause the site to load slower.

I can also see you have live streaming on your site, this could slow down your site,

I see you don't have a lot of images on your site, I would recommend you optimize the images on your site and try not to overload your home page with several fonts and font colors. Too many fonts/font colors will simply cause your user's processor to work harder.

Please try not to use more than 2 fonts on a single page. Fonts in plain, bold, italic, bold & italic are all considered to be different fonts!

      Have a great day,

      Lee - Wix Team.

    Hey Wix,

    site is charrua.wix.com/usagents

the site resources load fine, but there are a few mysterious loads that are slowing it down about 5x more than necessary.

From my network tab I can see there are 5 requests to   "static.parastorage.com", these greatly slow down the site - what are they ?

And finally there is a javascript error file loaded at the end that blows the page load out of the water.  (ends with 'jserrors/1').

These files take what would otherwise be a 2 - 3 second load and make it closer to 10.  Any way to access them?

Thank you for contacting Wix support team.

I browsed your site and tested its performance, as you can see here, and it loaded perfectly after only few seconds.

Please try using a different computer and a different network and update us whether the problem persists.

Thank you for your cooperation, we are waiting for you reply.

Could you please have a look at this?

    Dear Wix,

We've facing very slow loading time for since 2/3 weeks ago. Even our potential clients have given us such feedbacks. This has really affected our business ALOT as most visitors do not want to wait so long for the pages to load. We've not encountered this problem before (this is the 2nd year we're on Wix) and we have not added any new content to our site. Please help.

Wix, look how many people complain about their wix site loading times. I've posted numerous times saying that I wanted a fix for the "chunky" way my sites load and the fact they feel slow which cheapens my business, I feel.

Can we hear what, if anything, wix are doing to resolve these issues? (Please don't reply with that generic "improving performance is very important to us" copy and paste message. Your clients are looking for real answers, from real people, about real action taking place.)

    Looking forward to your reply.
