If you cannot save your site due to a timeout error, please try the following:
While keeping your editor open, go to wix.com and log out of your account. Then log in again while keeping your editor open, and then try to save again.
 

If it still doesn't work, please wait a few minutes and try to save again.


In most cases this should resolve the issue.


Please post here if you still experience this issue after following the above instructions so that we can investigate the problem.

Our technical team is working hard to solve this issue, and we've made an attempt to fix this about 12 hours ago. If you are receiving this error, and your editor is open for more than 12 hours, I'm afraid you will have to close it, re-log to your Wix account, and try again.
 
If you are still receiving this error, even after loading the editor again, please provide us with the following information:
 
-When loading the editor, and simply pressing save (without any modification) does it save it?
-When making a slight modification to the website, and trying to save it, does it save it?
-Does it stop saving after a certain action you take, or after a time period?
 
Please make sure to answer all these questions when posting new replies here to make sure we can pinpoint and fix this issue as soon as possible.

Hi guys,

 

We're terribly sorry for this issue and it is currently being investigated. If you've tried re-logging to your Wix account and the issue yet persists then I'm afraid that the current work will be lost. Please close your Editor and browser altogether and clear your browser's cache. You can find step by step instructions here. After doing so, please make a 'test save' - a slight change in your Editor (such as adding a paragraph) and attempt to save. Let us know if the error persists.

 

* To avoid future data loss we highly recommend that you save your Wix documents every few minutes while working on it.

    I can't save my website because of an error saving: An unexpected error has occured while preparing your site data... Contact support (timeout)

    Can you please help me, a lot of work will be lost

    I have tried saving, new account new page. cleared caches, the whole nine yards..nothing. I've lost the work. Will this issue be resolved any time soon, unfortunately I am loosing time. I need this up for an album release.

    I'm having trouble while saving my site,

    I tried to log out my account while my editor was still open. It didn't help. Even if i did a small change and then save it, i get the same time out error.

    And after resetting my computer and log on again in my account it didn't help.

    Can somebody say me what else i can do to save my site. I already lost a lot of my work cause of this problem..

    TIME OUT ERROR

    I have worked all day on editing my site and I am finished. I repeatedly get error messages that it can't be saved and PUBLISHED! the error message DOES NOT REFLECT any # or code as your site suggests -but simply tells me that it is a TIMEOUT problem and to REPORT IT IF I CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS DIFFICULTY.  I have rebooted, closed down, reentered etc. to no avail.  Please make certain my website is published by the morning PLEASE For business.  Thanks.     I cannot get my website to save it keeps saying it is timed out but I haven't been on it for more than a hour!! It just started all of the sudden.  I tried logging out and logging back in I really need help in trying to solve this problem.

      Please clear your browser's cache. You can find step by step instructions here.

      We also recommend you to try and use different browsers and see if there is any difference.

      Wix supports all major browsers (including IE, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari), and all of those browsers support the ability to export favorites and bookmarks to the newly installed browser.

    I have tried to save changes atleast 5 times and it is still giving me an error message. I need this fixed as I must update the site as soon as possible!!
