If you cannot save your site due to a timeout error, please try the following:
While keeping your editor open, go to wix.com and log out of your account. Then log in again while keeping your editor open, and then try to save again.
 

If it still doesn't work, please wait a few minutes and try to save again.


In most cases this should resolve the issue.


Please post here if you still experience this issue after following the above instructions so that we can investigate the problem.

Our technical team is working hard to solve this issue, and we've made an attempt to fix this about 12 hours ago. If you are receiving this error, and your editor is open for more than 12 hours, I'm afraid you will have to close it, re-log to your Wix account, and try again.
 
If you are still receiving this error, even after loading the editor again, please provide us with the following information:
 
-When loading the editor, and simply pressing save (without any modification) does it save it?
-When making a slight modification to the website, and trying to save it, does it save it?
-Does it stop saving after a certain action you take, or after a time period?
 
Please make sure to answer all these questions when posting new replies here to make sure we can pinpoint and fix this issue as soon as possible.

We're terribly sorry for this issue and it is currently being investigated. If you've tried re-logging to your Wix account and the issue yet persists then I'm afraid that the current work will be lost. Please close your Editor and browser altogether and clear your browser's cache. You can find step by step instructions here. After doing so, please make a 'test save' - a slight change in your Editor (such as adding a paragraph) and attempt to save. Let us know if the error persists.

 

* To avoid future data loss we highly recommend that you save your Wix documents every few minutes while working on it.

    Timeout error

    I have just started building my website today. I go to "save" and I get the message "Error Saving: An unexpected error occurred while preparing your site data. If the problem persists please let us know by posting on our support forum (Timeout)"

    It has done this to me multiple times that I have tried today and I cannot close my browser without losing everything I have done.

    Please help.

      I already tried these things last night and nothing helped. I would really not like to redo everything. None of my attempts to save since I've started have worked

    After suffering to build the site anytime I try to save below is the message I get for days now I have been trying.

    "An unexpected error occurred while preparing your site data. If the problem persists please let us know by posting on our support forum (Timeout)"

    I was advised to log out of my account and log in among other suggestions but nothing worked. Is this site for real? I am having my doubts paying for this. Please help!

      Yes! You can edit/change your site anytime, even after it's published!
      Simply enter your editor > edit it > click on "Publish" to save your changes online.


      Your Wix site will automatically update once you click "Publish".

    Earlier in the day, I was having the same issue as the other posters.  I tried saving, unsuccessfully, several times before I attempted leaving the editor open, logging out, and logging back in.  During this time, I was also unable to "View my site."  A new tab would open with the "Connecting..." message on top with the address bar labeled "about:blank."

    My login attempts were unsuccessful, as well, the error "Oops, Something went wrong! Please try again" implying that my password was incorrect.  I checked my caps lock, spelling, etc. and retried several times.  After walking away for a few hours, I was able to log in, but neither my editor nor "View my site" would not start.  Again, the tab said, "about:blank." 

    I tried logging out then in again, and I am again having the "Oops" message on my password, and every Wix tab I have open (including the one for this message board) has had the spinning "I'm thinking" icon running for at least ten minutes, if not longer.

    I also tried restarting the browser with no change in site response.

    I had the same error coming up when I tried to save.  I don't think I'mnot using the latest version of internet explore and I would like to switch over to Crome (which I just downloaded).   Will it save or will I have to restart?  I've been working on this for over 3 hours and am close to being done.

    Also, all of my pictures I've tried to download are turning 90 degrease to the right.  Now I can't download them. This is the last thing I have to do and the most important.  Any suggestions?

      On my twenty millionth time trying to save it actually worked!  I'm still trying to fix my issue with my pictures though.

      I'm glad you were able to save your work. It is very important to save your changes often so that you don't loose all the work you've done.

      Have you started using Chrome? Does the problem with the images occur there as well?

    NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!

    Incredibly slow and to top all off NOTHING SAVES!

    Put a lot of work into my page only for it to not save.

    Deleting account right away.

    Error when Saving (12002) and (Timeout)

    I am getting two different error messages with attempting to save. Have received this since around 2pm after multiple attempts since then.

    I have not been able to save any of my work since purchasing this site. I'm getting very frustrated!

      I've since clear my browers cache....nothing has changed. This has been occurring since last week. How much longer can I expect to not be able to use a program I am paying for??
